Dr. D**g Kui‘s “Until Now” will be featured in our opening concert. This song has allegories of dreams and the blurred lines between reality and imagination, the relationship humanity has with nature, and the metamorphisms of butterflies. To hear this live, go see 2 beautiful musicians bring this to life on April 13th.

2024 ACMI @ MSMU is delighted to announce Del Sol Quartet as one of our guest ensemble and guest presenter. They will perform Dr. Chinary Ung’s “Spiral X” and present at our opening panel discussion, amongst other wonderful vignettes.

San Francisco’s Del Sol Quartet believes that music can, and should, happen anywhere - screaming out Aeryn Santillan’s Makeshift Memorials from a Mission District sidewalk or a rural high school, bouncing Ben Johnston’s microtonal Americana off the canyon walls of the Yampa River or the hallowed walls of Library of Congress, bringing Huang Ruo’s “Angel Island Oratorio” home to the island detention barracks or across the Pacific to the Singapore International Arts Festival. The Quartet aims to increase the public’s awareness and understanding of contemporary chamber music and make this art form more accessible, through concerts, commissioning of composers, educational programs and recordings. Their performances provide the possibility for unexpected discovery, sparking dialogue and bringing people together. By bringing the string quartet tradition from its European roots into global traditions, including an emphasis on the Asian continent, Del Sol makes contemporary chamber music a dynamic part of today’s culture. Since 1992, Del Sol has commissioned or premiered hundreds of works by living composers of all cultures and heritages.
