California Orchard Inspired Cake: Almond Cake, Tart Lemon Curd, Slow-Roasted Strawberry Jewels, and Avocado Swiss Buttercream. My new obsession.

I’ve been cooking and baking with California-grown produce for more than 15 years, and every year I’m still amazed by the ingenuity of our farmers and the incredible diversity of what’s grown here.

Last month, I had the opportunity to visit farms with CA GROWN, and it was beyond inspiring. A huge thank you to Kimball Avocados and Prancers Farm for sharing your time, knowledge, and generosity.

One of my favorite things we did together CA GROWN was this class led by Sarah Sarah.

After gathering the bounty that is California Agriculture Ventura Farmers Market we got to work on making snack boards with Real California Milk.

Did you know California leads the nation in sustainable dairy production? We’re #1 in some of my favorites aka ICE CREAM and BUTTER. California is home to some of the best cheese makers. What a treat to learn how to CUT THE CHEESE with such delicious dairy!

The sorting of cheese into groups, felt much like being sorted for a house. Bennett Rea and I sorted our selves into Crumbly Chunks House. What are you — a Bloom Round, a Pliable Wedge, a Crumbly Chunk, or a Big Block?

Honored to be included on the 2026 Cherry Bombe Power List alongside so many whose work I admire. I’m endlessly grateful to get to do work I am passionate about and amplify stories that matter. Fifteen years ago, and a career in food was a wild idea. Today it’s books, classes, podcasts, weddings, markets, cakes, and a community I cherish beyond words.
