I love being Mama. Being a mother has changed so much for me, including healing so much of the loss of my own mother. Mothering can be done without children whenever you care for and uplift others — human, animal, plant or the whole planet. More mothering is needed from all of us.

Another amazing Jubilee , full of friends and inspiring break outs. No NYC rain can dim the shine of the incredible women (and men) at Jubilee. It’s an essential yearly event to connect with the so many friends, in the very busy food industry. I basically spend the whole day squealing and hugging my favorite people.

The best bites out of the big apple from a weekend of food in New York City:

1. The cherry blossom linzer

2. The castelfranco salad with whipped eggs, dill and bottarga . Tasted like a deviled egg but salad.

Just deeply in love with the pie line up right now. A few from the weekend — Sudachi Lime with condensed milk whip, Mango black tea with lime whip and Seabuckthorn with salty honey whip.

Prepped while thinking about what a little dream it would be to have a small pie place. A lot of great pie in this city but never enough good custard slices — which I just love, obviously. The jiggle, the spoon melting through, the mounds of lush whip cream. Knees get weak. Thinking about a whole window filled top to bottom with pie beckoning, Wayne Theibaud slices lined up. Mismatched vintage spoons. Flowing coffee (& milk for littles.) In this dream, it’s always a perfect sunny afternoon — the kind where you can easily find shapes in the clouds. And everyone wants a slice of pie.
