Today our chosen dad Victor Rodriguez turns 60. We do not know where Por Detroit would be today without him. He is truly one of the kindest, most talented people in the world and we are so happy to have him in our lives. We met Victor about 9 years ago, shortly after launching Por Detroit in Mexico City, and he has helped us navigate the intricate and often difficult world of nightlife ever since, as he has done with so many others. He is deeply caring, nurturing , authentic and has an incredibly deep knowledge of music. He has been throwing parties in LA since the late 1980s and has had a lasting impact on a countless number of people in our community. He also happens to have one of the best record collections in the world that he is has shared with us over the years.

This Saturday in LA , we will be at Pajaro Penthouse party celebrating this absolute legend at one of our favourite locations ever. Come show your love to this absolute gem of a human being. Secret DJs and performances ….. you know it’s going to be good. Tickets in our bio

A producer, composer, vocalist, performer, label manager, and DJ, Matías Aguayo is an essentially cosmopolitan musician—both by biographical circumstance and by choice. Periods spent living and working in Berlin, Paris, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City have helped shape a dynamic, forward-looking artistic persona that bridges electronic music with other disciplines. While he can be grouped with the prominent Chilean musicians who established their base of operations in Europe during the 1990s—such as Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack, and Dinky—his work now follows a creative path that transcends genres and disciplines (including an affinity for popular song). In 2009, he founded the Cómeme label to promote Latin American sounds.
Tonight, the Por Detroit DJ booth welcomes this music legend to take the rave experience to a level you aren’t used to.

We’ve always enjoyed art in unconventional spaces, and considering we’re having one our favorite DJs of all time Matias Aguayo playing for us tomorrow, we decided to flex a lil bit and bring out Montreal’s best photographer (and resident hottie) Felix Bonnevie felix . Wander the space to find some of his select works and catch his dj set from 1-230am.
