I am writing to comment on Docket FDA-2026-N-7542. As a concerned citizen, I urge the FDA to build any future framework for psychedelic therapies around patient safety, equitable access, and the lightest effective touch.
Training: Support baseline education standards covering screening, preparation, administration, and integration, with ethics and boundaries as foundational. But credentialing must not become gatekeeping — excessive requirements raise costs and concentrate access among the wealthy.
Safety: Informed consent must be plain-spoken, addressing power imbalance, touch policies, and the risk of difficult experiences. Screening should be rigorous, and integration support treated as part of safety, not an afterthought.
Access: Without reimbursement pathways, these therapies serve only the affluent. Every requirement should be weighed against who it keeps out.
Data: Support coordinated registries with common data elements and patient-reported outcomes at the center, built around privacy and voluntary participation.
Please set the floor high enough to protect patients — and leave the ceiling open.
