Exhibit : By showcasing emerging artist El Velorio seeks to celebrate the day of the dead in a transcendental way that will allow its visitors to contemplate different aesthetic developments local to the city of Los Angeles. Event : El Velorio is a multicultural event that celebrates the cultural traditions of Day of the Dead, featuring an art exhibition, live music, an altar installation and much more. Event Attendance : Every year thousands of people come together at El Velorio to celebrate Latino culture and heritage, allowing for this converge to transcend its
natural context. In 2014 we are anticipating attendance to reach over 3,000 guests. What We Do : El Velorio is an event that brings together artists in a range of media to connect with hispanic heritage in a space free of borders. By generating an artistic convergence El Velorio is able to aesthetically transcend time and space. Why It Matters : El Velorio began in 2010, with the sole purpose of creating a space for artists to exhibit their work; however it quickly became an event that has benefited various non-proft organizations.
