We’re excited to welcome Joe Hall back to Speak of the Devil for another night of his one-man, high-energy show.

Joe’s solo set is a 100% live performance, building songs in real time by looping and layering guitar, vocals, and rhythm into mashups that keep the room moving. It’s a creative, spontaneous style where familiar songs take on new life as they stack and evolve right in front of you.

Expect a heavy dose of ’90s rock and alternative, mixed with top hits, a few classics, and some modern favorites thrown in for good measure.

It’s the kind of show that feels perfect for the room—good music, good drinks, and a Saturday night crowd singing along when the mood strikes.

Come early, grab a seat at the bar, and welcome Joe back to West Fifth.

This Saturday night, May 16, we’ve got Ben Gage hanging out and playing his brand of singer-songwriter music at Speak of the Devil.

Ben’s a Northeast Ohio singer-songwriter whose style lands in that perfect space between folk, Americana, and late-night barroom confessions — thoughtful without trying too hard and loose in all the right ways.

This is exactly the kind of night we love around here — a talented musician here for the first time playing our intimate room, shakers shaking, and everybody settling in for a laid-back Saturday night on West Fifth.

Saturday, May 16, 7:30PM.

SOTD has a hell of a run of live music headed your way at Speak of the Devil - starting tomorrow!

From looped atmospheric soundscapes and singer-songwriters to jazz trios and late-night groove merchants, the next couple months are stacked with musicians we genuinely love having in the room.

The vibe? Very much SOTD: dim lights, dope drinks, and downtown energy.

All performances begin at 7:30PM.

No cover. No bad seats. Just good music, good drinks and better company.

We’re excited to welcome Ohio musician Mezz Recipe to Speak of the Devil this Saturday May 9th. Show starts at 7:30 pm. No cover.

Mezz is a one-man groove machine, building layered soundscapes live using nothing but guitar and a loop pedal. His indie-folk meets lo-fi soul, with oh so moody blues guitar and atmospheric looping generates an evening of music that drifts between groove, improvisation, and late-night mood.

There are few things that fit Speak of the Devil better than a jazz trio on a night out in downtown Lorain.

The Martin Kent Jazz Trio brings exactly the kind of mood we love around here: cool, sharp, timeless jazz that makes the room buzz. It is the sound of good cocktails, low lights, conversations at the bar.

Whether you are a serious jazz fan or just looking for a great night out, Martin Kent and company always deliver one of those nights that feels just a little special.

Music starts at 7:30pm. Come early, grab a good seat and settle in.

Kurt of Speak of the Devil recommends “Angel Down”, a novel by Daniel Kraus, published in 2025.

“Angel Down doesn’t ask for your attention, it demands it. Set in the mud, horror, and moral ambiguity of war (World War I), it follows a band of broken American soldiers who discover a fallen angel on the battlefield and immediately project their fears, desires, and collective desperation onto her, making her a symbol of faith, corruption, lust, power, and the brutal, self-perpetuating cycle of war itself.
…a novel about how violence mutates everything it touches, and how hard it is to hold onto your humanity in the midst of it. Intimate, and often hard to sit with, this book is a haunting and unforgettable reading experience that will stay with you for a very long time.”

We took a little spring break, so we are ready...are you?

This Saturday night is going to be a rock'n'roll party!

The Crawling Madisons are rolling into Speak of the Devil with a wild, grease-stained racket of jump blues, early rock 'n' roll, and rockabilly. These guys have a way of turning an ordinary Saturday night into a full-blown, glasses-rattling mess of fun

By the time this band steps on stage and kicks in, the room is going to be humming like an overloaded neon sign. Heads nodding, feet moving, cocktails flying out of the tins, somebody yelling over the music that they are "only staying for one"... like we all don't know how that story ends.

Saturday night at 7:30pm here on West Fifth.

Great music, dope drinks, and a room full of beautiful troublemakers.

Get in here. We've missed you!
