Twenty years ago, we gathered the tribe in a hidden art gallery somewhere in Downtown Los Angeles.

This was before social media. Before algorithms told us where to be. Before every moment was documented and uploaded for approval.

Back then, you had to know someone.

A phone number. A whispered conversation. A flyer slipped into your hand at a record shop. A chance encounter somewhere along Melrose, when it was still a cultural crossroads for dreamers, artists, dancers, and outcasts.

You’d make the call.

Get the address.

Arrive at a nondescript location and disappear down a dimly lit alleyway, guided only by the distant pulse of bass echoing through concrete walls. The closer you got, the louder it became, a heartbeat calling you home.

And once you stepped inside, everything changed.
A sea of bodies. Sweat on the walls. Smiles in every direction. More than a thousand house heads moving as one organism beneath the glow of moving lights and the weight of low-end frequencies.

That was the moment you knew.

You had arrived at another Sacred Grounds gathering.

Not a party.

A ritual.

A communion.

A temporary sanctuary built on rhythm, connection, and the shared pursuit of losing yourself completely on the dance floor.

Two rooms.

In one, Mushroom Jazz drifted through the air alongside eclectic funk, dusty breaks, and rare grooves that seemed unearthed from another dimension.

In the other, the main room pulsed with relentless four-on-the-floor energy delivered by the Sacred Grounds residents and special guests from afar.

And on this night, direct from Chicago, stood J-Dub and the man of the hour: Mark Farina.

At the height of his travels, playing clubs and festivals across the globe, yet somehow, Sacred Grounds always felt like home. Whenever Mark touched down in Los Angeles, you knew where you’d find him.

Right there with us.

In the underground.

Where the music mattered most.

Where strangers became family.

Where, for a few sacred hours, nothing existed beyond the next record.

We come in the name of Love, with harm to no one.

Last night was a perfect sequence of moments for SG’s debut performances at featuring Ruben Medellin and his brother Big Rich inside the Laundry Room at .lbc together, the brothers behind the decks enlisted a plethora of music spanning timelines, vocals and deep cuts. With the Big Rich setting the tone anchored by his seasoned older brother, Ruben they crafted a masterpiece performance together.

Thank you to all those in attendance and for providing the energy and support needed to make this, what felt like a good ol fashioned house party get down, happen. As always you fueled the night by making it happen. Thank you to our gracious hosts, for inviting our beloved players to share their gifts.
