Get to know the artists of Lompoc Chalks 2025!

Lori Antoinette is a graduate of Fine Art from the University of Maryland, College Park, Lori started out as an oil painter predominantly, later switching to acrylics. She spent 30 years enjoying world travel while working for international airlines, at the same time keeping both hands in the arts. She was in a Los Angeles area art collective and co-owned a downtown gallery with them, became certified in textile design, and had her own wearable arts business. When she discovered chalk on the ground at the first Pasadena (CA) Chalk Festival in 1993, it was love at first chalk, adopting her motto, “Have Chalk, Will Travel!”

A full-time artist since 2014, she has really gone full steam into developing her art career to include wall murals, public art, paint parties and portraiture as well as developing partnerships with other talented artists. She started a social group showcasing her chalk family called Chalk Mafia and recently became a board member for a new arts non-profit, Rural Artists of the Magnificent Mojave (RAMM) based in Pearblossom, CA.

Get to know the artists of Lompoc Chalks 2025!

Clifton "Clif" Gold creates whimsical doodle art designs with lines and patterns. Based in Milpitas, CA, he brings his original designs to life at chalk art festivals across California. He also loves to create fun designs, Zentangle inspired art, and design coloring pages. Fun fact, he's also colorblind!

Clif discovered chalk art in high school at his school’s festival and continued to develop a passion for it in college, using chalk to promote campus events. After participating in San Jose's Luna Park Chalk Art Festival (in which it rained the first year), he kept coming back and eventually branched out to other festivals including I Madonnari in Santa Barbara, Pasadena Chalk Festival, Palo Alto Festival of the Arts and of course, Lompoc Chalks. He loves chalk art for its affordability, the joy it brings to communities, and the chance to work outdoors (even if it does rain occasionally). The ephemeral nature of this medium allows for frequent experimentation and creativity. While it can be sad to see the art fade away, it serves as a beautiful reminder of life's impermanence and the importance of enjoying the moment.

Clif also loves riding bikes and recently completed 565 miles on the final AidsLifecycle ride which went through Lompoc.

Get to know the artists of Lompoc Chalks 2025!

Shuji Nishimura is an artist based in Los Angeles, California.
Like famous artists of past ages, such as Vincent Van Gogh, a post-impressionist of Dutch origin who had an innate artistic talent and no formal art schooling, he falls into this category.

He drew during his childhood days and progressed in his self-study of the arts.
His art is created not only with pastel chalk on the sidewalk, but also with acrylics on canvas and color pencil on paper.

He began as a chalk artist in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., in 2007 and
has received many awards for his works since then.
His super-realistic art profiles can be seen on his Instagram .
