The Cookhouse Will Be Humming on Syrup Sopping Day at Loachapoka!
Before the sun even peeks over the trees on October 25th, the Cookhouse will be buzzing with delicious activity! This is where our famous Sweet Potato Biscuits and Sweet Potato Fritters are made fresh all morning long.
These golden biscuits taste even better when sopped in warm Sugarcane Syrup — or try them with sausage for a savory twist!
Our Sweet Potato Fritters start with the same biscuit dough, then are deep-fried until perfectly crisp and rolled in cinnamon and sugar. You won’t find them anywhere else!
Starting at 10:30 AM, the Cookhouse crew will be serving up hearty Camp Stew, Pinto Beans, and Collard Greens, all cooked in open kettles over the fire behind the Cookhouse. Add a piece of homemade cornbread, and you’ve got a real Pioneer Park meal.
Bring your appetite (and a few dollars!) — every penny from the Cookhouse goes straight back to Pioneer Park. Come hungry, leave happy, and be part of this syrup-sopping tradition!
