Llano Junior High to Host Open House
Tuesday, October 4
Llano Junior High will host a Scholastic Book Fair beginning Monday, October 3, 2016, and running until Friday, October 7, 2016, from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. daily. The fair will close at 3:45 on Friday, October 7. Funds raised will help purchase reading awards and new books for the library. Families, faculty, and the community are invited to attend this fun reading event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.
The Book Fair will feature a special Open House, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, with a ribbon cutting to officially open the new and remodeled Llano Junior High. The ribbon cutting will be held at 5:00 in the foyer between the front office and auditorium. The National Junior Honor Society will be serving refreshments after the ribbon cutting ceremony. Everyone is invited to attend Open House to enjoy walking through the new classroom wing and gym and seeing the remodeled areas of the campus. Parents and students will be able to visit their teachers in their classrooms. Mrs. Beasley and her students will also be showing off their laser cutter and 3D printer in the Enhanced Learning Center/MakerSpace in room 113, so please drop by and see them.
The Book Fair offers specially priced books and educational products, including popular series, award-winning titles, new releases, adult bestsellers, and other great reads from more than 100 publishers. The library will also be raffling off a basket of book fair goodies that will include several popular titles. Chances will sell for $1.00 each or 6 chances for $5.00.
Book Fair customers may help the school build classroom libraries by purchasing books through the Classroom Wish List program. The Classroom Wish List board will be located in the library at the book fair. Students and their parents may pull cards from any teacher’s wish envelope and purchase the book fair item to fulfill the teacher’s wish.
Daily contests will be held during school hours for $10 worth of book fair merchandise. A Faculty Baby Photo contest will be held as well during the school day. For $1.00, a student may purchase a ballot to match teachers with their baby photos. The winners will be announced on Friday morning, October 7, and will be able to select $50 in book fair merchandise. All proceeds made at the book fair will go toward purchasing reading awards for students and new books for the library.
The Llano Junior High students and faculty hope that everyone will come out on Tuesday night, October 4, to celebrate the opening of our new and improved campus and to shop at the book fair.
