JOURNEY DRUMMER DEEN CASTRONOVO RUSHED TO HOSPITAL DURING CONCERT
A frightening moment for Journey fans tonight, October 8, as longtime drummer Deen Castronovo suffered a medical emergency during the bandās performance at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
According to reports, Castronovo had played just two songs when he needed assistance leaving the stage.
Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed the audience, apologizing for the interruption and asking everyone to keep Castronovo in their thoughts and prayers.
Guitarist Neal Schon later returned with an update, confirming that Castronovo was being taken to the hospital. Rather than cancel the entire performance, Journey decided to continue with longtime drum technician Steve Toomey filling in behind the kit.
When the concert resumed, singer Arnel Pineda offered some reassurance, telling fans that he believed Castronovo would be fine. Schon also expressed optimism, dedicating the eveningās performance to his bandmate.
Castronovo has been one of Journeyās most important musicians for decades, joining the group in 1998. Beyond his powerful drumming, heās also become a fan favourite for his remarkable singing voice, regularly performing Journey classics originally recorded by Steve Perry.
At this point, the exact nature of his medical emergency has not been publicly disclosed, and there has been no confirmed medical diagnosis.
