HLDF Cancellation Notice — Hurricane Lowell Impact
Aloha HLDF ‘ohana,
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of the Hawai‘i Line Dance Festival due to the severe impacts of Hurricane Lowell.
As of this morning, 95% of Kaua‘i is without power, including homes, businesses, and essential services across the island. The Veterans Center is not accessible at this time due to downed power lines. That said, it is also without electricity. Without power, we cannot safely or meaningfully host the festival — no sound system, no lighting, no air circulation, no refrigeration, and no way to ensure a safe environment for attendees, instructors, or vendors.
At this time, there is no estimated timeline for power restoration. Because of this uncertainty, and out of care for everyone’s safety and travel plans, we must cancel HLDF for this year.
Ticket Options
All attendees may choose one of the following:
Refund for all tickets purchased
Roll over your tickets to next year’s HLDF at no additional cost (next year's pricing will go up slightly).
*Rolling your ticket over to next year helps us recover losses for the cancellation of this year's HLDF.
Festival T‑Shirts
Our HLDF shirts were paid for and printed back in August, well before the storm. Because of this, all attendees are welcome to have their shirts shipped to them (minus any shipping costs). We will coordinate mailing once postal services stabilize and roads are fully safe for transport.
Please send an email to [email protected] with your options. Also, please have patience with any delays in me getting back to you as I myself have no power or internet connection at this time and will be inundated with your responses.
Mahalo for your understanding, patience, and aloha during this difficult moment for our island. We are grateful for this community and look forward to welcoming you back next year under much brighter skies.
With appreciation,
Jeffrey Callejo Jr.
