Tonight we had the opportunity to attend the “You Make THE Difference” Kentucky Tour at the Pulaski County Fairgrounds— and what an inspiring evening it was!

A huge thank you to Ian Hill for sharing valuable insight, leadership strategies, and educational resources that will help fairs and festivals across Kentucky continue to grow and thrive for generations to come.

As organizers and volunteers, we are always looking for ways to better serve our communities, strengthen our events, and preserve the traditions that make hometown fairs and festivals so special. This tour is truly a great opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired.

There is still time to register for the remaining stops on the tour — and we highly encourage others involved in fairs, festivals, and community events to attend. You do not want to miss it!

Last night at the Senior Awards Ceremony at Casey County High School, the Casey County Apple Festival was proud to present our annual scholarship to an outstanding young member of our community — Walker Emerson. 🍎

To be considered for this scholarship, recipients must be graduating seniors who have served on our Junior Committee. Walker truly exemplified what it means to be part of that group. He consistently went above and beyond, always willing to step in, lend a hand, and do whatever needed to be done to make our festival a success.

We were especially moved by his essay, where he shared:
“One of the most meaningful things I learned through volunteering is the importance of community involvement. The festival depends on people who are willing to give their time and effort without expecting anything in return. Seeing individuals of all ages work side by side made me realize how strong our community truly is.”

That kind of perspective speaks volumes about his character and the future ahead of him.

Walker plans to attend the University of Kentucky and pursue a career as an optometrist. We have no doubt he will do incredible things, and we are honored to play a small part in his journey.

Congratulations, Walker! Your Apple Festival family is proud of you! ❤️🍏

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our beloved co-founders, Marion Murphy.

Marion was more than a founder—he was a visionary whose passion, dedication, and love for this community helped shape the Casey County Apple Festival into what it is today. His legacy lives on in every parade, every smile, every memory made on the down town streets each September.

Because of Marion’s hard work and commitment, generations have come together to celebrate tradition, community, and hometown pride. His impact will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

As we gather for future festivals, we will carry Marion’s spirit with us—grateful for the foundation he built and the joy he brought to so many.

❤️🍎

Celebrate the life of Marion Murphy and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.

We are excited to bring JD to Casey County!

Kentucky Native JD Shelburne will headline the Casey County Apple Festival in Liberty, KY on Saturday, September 26th at 9:00pm ET! Shelburne will make his debut appearance in Downtown Liberty, KY this September!

Kentucky native JD Shelburne's journey has taken him from Taylorsville, KY, to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, the iTunes Country Top Ten, nine consecutive video appearances on CMT, and The Circle Network. He has opened for over 70 national acts, including ZZ Top, David Lee Murphy, Riley Green, and Marty Stuart, and has recorded with Grammy Award winners The Oak Ridge Boys and Crystal Gayle. Now, with his latest charting album, **Raised on the Good Stuff**, JD takes another major leap forward, solidifying his position as one of modern country’s most exciting and accomplished singers. His own Signature Series Bourbon, a top 30 album, and over 3,000 shows performed give him a notable presence with over 7 million impressions a month. Shelburne burst onto the scene in 2005 after finding his grandmother’s guitar after her death and has become a trailblazer in the music business. After years of self-taught hard work and building one of the most loyal fan bases to come out of Kentucky, Shelburne has earned an endless list of accolades, including his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2025.
