So I am thinking of bringing Operation IronwoRX back in a slightly different format. This is something that I have always wanted to do but was reluctant due to safety concerns and other logistical issues. I've always wanted to combine my two biggest passions- fitness and shooting. So I wanted to just throw this out there and see what kind of interest I get. The fitness parts of the event would be functional in nature and practical. So don't expect barbells. Expect sled drags, vehicle pushes, dummy carries, hill runs in full kit and then shoot! The shooting would be scored IDPA style, so basically you take time penalties for poor hits and misses. So everything is still based on time, you just gotta shoot when your smoked. If you've ever been on a SWAT team or in some military units and completed a stress test then you have an idea of what I'm talking about. Just imagine multiple tests in a day not just intended to get your heart rate up, but really push you. Of course safety would be paramount so there would be a lot of that integrated into the comp. Each athlete/shooter would have a judge who is also a safety to make sure you are handling your weapon according to the safety guidelines. In order to get properly evaluated (not worry about somebody getting hurt by a novice) I would probably require a train-up day. During train-up the potential competitors would get a chance to learn/demonstrate proficiency/competence with both tac rifle and pistol. If you're a soup sandwich then you get the train-up and but don't get to compete until your level of proficiency and competence is legit. If I were able to combine some real functional fitness with a competitive shooting match who would be interested?
