This week, the farm received such a thoughtful write-up from the Maine SBDC, and we are honored to have our story shared in places beyond just our own social media! šŸ’™āļø

This is a little different from our usual content, but the behind-the-scenes of running a place like this is actually the biggest part, and it inspired me to try to be helpful in a world more broad than Christmas Trees and fun events!

We have some pieces of advice for future business owners, they range in professionalism šŸ˜†:

•The Maine Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will actually truly help you, and it is completely zero cost advising - DO IT.
•Check out ā€œMaine Business Answersā€ online if you have questions about required licensing for any endeavor imaginable - It’s a quick search!
•Set yourself up with a bank that doesn’t require super high minimum balances and penalties
•Shopify is a great platform if you have an online storefront or in-person storefront, and want your general website all in one place
•If you work with Faire Wholesale and you knew about a brand before purchasing, grab a direct link from that business prior to checking out
•Be nice to people even if they aren’t always nice to you - It feels better at the end of the day
•If you work in a heavily populated area and need to scream, find a well insulted room first (😁)
•Feeling defeated means you genuinely care
•It’s only as scary as you allow it to be. ā¤ļø

Have fun, follow your dreams, and remember that you can do whatever you want with your life -
You just have to START.

Now, where should I put Josh next for ā€œawkward photos that will draw attentionā€? šŸ˜‹

06/25/2026

When I pull from the deepest parts of my memory, thinking back as far as I can, I truly realize that there’s never been one particular thing that I’ve felt more called to than that of a tree.

I have taken pictures with SO MANY trees, as if they’re rare and need documenting.

I have drawn and painted more trees than anything else, and they are the number one thing I would also look for as a purchaser of art. In my soul, they are the elite design element.

I named my first business after the structure of a tree, and then Josh and I named our first business together after… a tree.

Josh now calls himself The Lorax; He speaks for the trees. šŸ’š

Trees. Trees. Trees.
It will ALWAYS be trees.

So, I guess we should have taken all of these commonalities to realize that OBVIOUSLY our destiny was in trees. On this Throwback Thursday, it seemed best to pull these photos and say;
Follow what seems to make sense, manifest, and realize that many ā€œcoincidencesā€ are intentional fate.

My walk to work feels like the most serene of all things. We’re surrounded by trees at home, then step onto the wooded path, cross the stream, and are suddenly in a field of Christmas Trees. We have countless wildlife living happily amongst one another, and I’m out here trying to find Snow White, while wondering how we purchased a plot of heaven. There are butterflies and wildflowers all over, and it smells so fresh. It is unreal.

But it wasn’t always like this. And I have to remember -while experiencing a life that now gives us the opportunity to work toward all of our dreams- exactly what it took to get here; the layers and layers. So much time as young adults, trying to establish the kind of mentality that helping others was going to be the best use of time, even with feelings of solitude. Time spent gifting skills, trying to make others feel seen, and generally just giving to give, because it is more fulfilling than anything else. I truly believe that those who push for the betterment of the world around them, with no expectation to receive anything back, have a rewarding life waiting in the wings. There’s no way, after the experiences we have had, that I could believe anything else at this point.

And with all of that, just as the past has set the tone, we want it desperately to be shared. We’re finding the most joy ever in just walking around with people, talking about the potential, and taking in the nature. We want to make this patch the most accessible that we possibly can, because we’re all doing this life together, simultaneously, and everyone deserves to have joyful experiences.

Our heads are in a constant flutter; collaborations, events, classes, crafting, weddings, landscaping, upgrading… all of it. It’s SO exciting, and if you’d like to pop in with an idea, or if you’d like to book your special event with us, we’re here and would be more than happy to help make someone else’s dream come true.

In 2022, I excitedly made this video about finally getting to own and put up my Tru-Tone Bulbs - The video got 124k views, and I decided that if I ever had my own store, I’d have to sell them.

Fast forward, they’re for sale in our shop now, and will be available during BalsamFest ; Our Christmas in July Celebration, kicking off in just a few weeks at our beautiful Christmas Tree Farm! šŸ«¶šŸ¤©šŸŽ…

My favorite thing in the entire world is hanging out with my cool best friend, who also happens to be my soulmate.

My second favorite thing is the fact that he will do anything that is silly, ridiculous, or questionable, if I ask nicely and believe it has good purpose.

My third favorite thing - Using that content to then spread good news. For our upcoming Artisan Market at BalsamFest, we are incredibly happy to introduce a new, reduced vendor fee structure. We want our market to be a vibrant, accessible space for the region’s creators and curators, and it is more important to us to share this space and give individuals an outlet to sell their goods, than to simply match common industry pricing.

Every business owner around us has said the same thing; You’ll have 100 ideas, one will land, and you’ll be learning lessons on how you actually want to run things from the beginning to the end. The point of our farm, and every event that we have ever hosted, or will ever host, is to literally just make people feel joy. That’s it. We want to make people feel so darn happy to be here, and we sincerely hope that is what we are accomplishing.

Vendor booths now start at $35 for one day, or $50 for both days. We are looking for all of your creations to cover the field, while our other family activities take place simultaneously along our storefront, food trucks, and reindeer-like activities. I remember being a vendor for the very first time, or even for the fifth time - Remembering that it is nerve-racking, and you have no way of knowing how you will do. We hope this gives you an opportunity to get your foot in the door, keep your foot in the door, meet some new friends and followers, or just have a great Christmas-in-July day of sales!

ā€œYou’re going to realize one day, it goes by in a blinkā€

One minute, you’re solely responsible for dragging the tree back together…
The next, one of you is buying a Christmas tree farm, and the other is building its parking lot so that it can successfully open.

You can become anything you want when you grow up, as long as you try. Have a happy Tuesday!šŸ¤Ž

There’s a lot in the works right now; The planning of BalsamFest, the booking of Private Events, the scheduling of wedding venue tours, constant grass control, two creative minds that never stop and want to continuously push for more, and a great big pair of jumbo chairs that are begging for their super fun paint jobs. I’m sure I’m missing about 15,000 things, but that’s the gist of it!

I love to ramble, but if you adore the farm and have a vision for an event here -or if you are a business owner that is in need of a fun collab or a continuous partnership- please reach out! We’ve been receiving some surprise visits lately from our sweet friends of Central Maine, and we are so grateful for the love and for the super uplift - We’re ready to keep pushing for as much as possible!🫶

ā€¼ļøArtisans, Makers, and Curatorsā€¼ļø

BalsamFest kicks off in eighteen days, and we have some spaces to fill for both Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th for Rudi’s Market!

Under-the-tent spaces are still available for both dates, and if you have your own setup, we have lots of room around the property for you too!

All vendors will receive a dedicated individual spotlight post for their business on the farm’s social media pages leading up to the event, and will be alongside other makers, artisans, and curators on the day of!
Additionally, we personally know how important it is to stay fed and hydrated at these busy events, so we will be handing out cold old-fashioned sodas, waters, snacks, and specialty donuts from the farm store to ALL of our vendors!

Both Wicked Smahht Chourico Caht and Becker’s Barbecue food trucks are lined up for this two-day event, as well a ton of activities for children and families alike!

If you’d like to participate, our application can be found here; https://fallenoakmaine.com/pages/rudis-market-application-form

It’s going to be a great time and we are just so, so excited!!
