They say every barn quilt has a story, and I’d love to share ours. 🤎
It's special to the farm, of course, because its focal point is a Christmas tree. But in reality, its creation definitely means more than that. I did not go by any kind of pre-existing plan or pattern. We took the other half of our street-side sign, and decided to make the quilt piece out of it - A blank 4'x4', ready for color. I designed it on my iPad on an afternoon that I was needing a slower moment of creativity, and was mapping and painting it the very next day.
All custom, hand-mixed colors that stayed on the primary wheel, just as nature often does. Different shades of blue and green to reflect the sky, the pond and streams, the grass, the leaves, and all of the different tree varieties on the property. Yellow for the sun and the flowers that have been popping up in every direction. Brown for dirt; As simple as that sounds, dirt has been a massive part of our renovation project, and we will always remember how we had to upturn the land to get it to where it is now. And the little bits of red - you’ll continue to see this in all of our creations. It’s says “little farm store”, Christmas, and warmth all in one.
We already have the next four art installations planned out and in their beginning stages, but the first is always worth mentioning. We absolutely cannot wait to see photos with you all and these pieces over time.
