A couple of little birds have chirped in our ears about what's holding people back from donating. And here is what they're hearing the most:

"If they get close, I'll see what I can do."

Wait. What?

There are a few reasons not wait to see if we get closer.

1. We are almost $30,000 closer than we were on January 15.
2. If EVERYONE is waiting to see if we get closer, we will never get closer.
3. Whether we hit $40,000 or not, every cent donated still goes to the park. And if your donation is in there, even if it doesn't get matched, it's going to help us build.
4. If we don't hit the goal and get matched, that's not an end to the park. It just means more fundraising work for us. We'll still be able to get started on it this summer.

Today's ask is if you're in that group that is waiting to see if we get closer, go ahead and donate and GET US CLOSER. That way all the others will, too.

If you're waiting to see how close we get, so you can top things off right at the end, well, bless you, but also maybe shoot us a call or an email and let us know.

I would like to take an actual breath this week. 😆

We don't know about you, but with only 2 weeks to go in the fundraiser, it seems GINORMUS to us.

So we need you.

Yeah, definitely donate if you can. But also, spread the word. Share share share.

If you know any small business owners, we're running a special right now. $500 gets you a plaque on the fence. Permanent advertising to thousands of potential customers.

If you know or work at a large business, they can still sponsor the swing set for $6,000 or the large shelter house for $10,000.

If you STILL haven't paid for your sponsored bench or tree (and there are a few of you), please drop a check by the library or pay online at our website.

Let's get it done!

Guess what we just realized???

One, we are very blessed to have 276 followers who are interested in the park, and we appreciate you.

Two, if every single one of you donated $25 at patronicity.com/leavenworthriverpark, that would raise $6,900 toward our goal.

And THAT would put us at a total of $32,515 with a few weeks left to raise the remaining $7,485. And THAT would get all those dollars matched by Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority.

So how about it? This week's challenge is to see how many $25 donations we can get. You might not think it's much, but it can really add up for the park.

It's early May and you're in the second grade. You've just arrived at school, and the excitement is palpable.

The morning is clear and warm. The sun is shining brightly. Your friends are struggling to stop giggling and nudging each other.

It's field trip day.

You've been looking forward to this since the weather changed. Winter is a distant memory and today... Today, your whole class is going to Leavenworth River Park. This is no extended recess, this is a day to enjoy the town you're growing up in and learn some really cool stuff.

Breeden Memorial Library's librarian, Miss Tina, is going to do an outdoor story time in the shelter house. She's going to read a story and then you're going to make a craft.

Stephenson's General Store is going to serve ice cream and you're going to get to eat it at the playground and then play for a while.

Then a master gardener from Purdue Extension Crawford County is going to teach you about the plants decorating the park. You'll even get to take home a small plant from Abel's Nursery & Greenhouse . Maybe you'll give it to your mom for Mother's Day.

You can't wait to climb on that school bus. And maybe you don't realize that the entire community came together today to give you something really special.

But as you grow up, you know that your town loves you as much as you love it. And you stay. And you raise your family here. And when your child takes that River Park field trip in the second grade, you know made the right choice.

Continuity. Community. That is what Leavenworth River Park offers.
