Hunter isn’t just behind the scenes—he’s the heart of Piedmont Blues & Roots. A sixth-generation musician from right here in the South Carolina Piedmont, he’s spent his life preserving the traditional sounds of our region and blending them with his own timeless style.

Thanks to Hunter’s passion and leadership, tonight’s festival at The Capitol Theatre is set to be something special. And who knows… you just might catch a surprise performance from him, too.

We’re proud to have him leading the charge in celebrating the music and culture that makes this place home.

“The music will be as close to authentic as traditional blues and pre-World War II string band music as we can get,” said City of Laurens Outdoor Recreation Director Hunter Holmes.

It was called the Piedmont Blues in the mid 1930’s and featured an original sound with fingerpicking and rhythmic patterns.
