We are now just 4 months out from the Coastal Traverse 12-hour Adventure Race in Lewes, Delaware and you won't want to miss this one! This is going to be an amazing course and we hope to see many of you out there to race with us on September 26.

Some of the things that are going to make this race extra special...

Our first linear course: We are excited to be putting on our first point-to-point adventure race, meaning the ability to venture into new areas and less "out and back" then a race with a central transition area.

New areas: Some of our course will be in new areas of coastal Delaware that have never before seen an adventure race before. Come and experience these natural gems for the first time while racing with your best friends.

Epic paddle: The paddle this year is a scenic beauty, and on more sheltered waterways then paddles in our past coastal races. This is one you will probably talk about for years to come!

Great distance for all racers: This course has nearly 20 miles of distance that can be shaved off along the way with optional checkpoints, so there is plenty of challenge for experienced teams attempting a full course clear, while allowing newer teams the chance to complete the minimum mandatory course in just a little over 30 miles.

Space is limited! Once boat supplies run out we will be closing registration, so don't wait too long to sign up!

A little bit about The Coastal Traverse

The International Adventure Racing Association recently began classifying adventure races into four categories: Discovery, Challenge, Endurance, and Expedition.

The Coastal Traverse falls into the Challenge category — a step above entry-level Discovery races.

Challenge races introduce participants to increased endurance, navigation, and logistics while avoiding the need for overnight racing and sleep-deprivation strategies often found in longer expedition events.

The Coastal Traverse will feature:
• 12 hours
• 3 disciplines
• Navigation throughout the course
• A linear course with a minimum of 32 miles

Teams will travel point-to-point by foot, bike, and paddle while navigating their way across Delmarva’s incredible landscapes.

Built for adventure, strategy, teamwork, and exploration.

As a homeschool family who loves adventure and spending time together, it’s important to us to weave our business naturally into our everyday lives. Today’s adventure was in the form of race scouting which, took us to some unique coastal forest and trails that I have never explored before! We are excited to show you more of what Delaware’s coast has to offer.

All life is precious, and the loss of such a precious life is gut wrenching. While we didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Shelly as well as others, the few interactions our team had with her were along the same thread as everyone else in our small AR community. She was radiant in a way we could all appreciate out on the trails. Her laughter was infectious and she wore her heart on her sleeve. I think the most honoring thing we can do in the wake of such a loss is to share our memories of Shelly.
My most vivid memory of her is in Sea2Sea 2024 on the first long bike leg. There was splattering of teams all searching for a CP deep in the woods. Our team was fortunate enough to locate it and as we were coming back up to the swarm of other teams who were still searching, I made eye contact with Shelly. She smiled and asked if we had had any luck coming from that direction, so we gave her a little trail magic. We didn’t think anything else of it until hours (or days) later in the race when she came bebopping up to us at a TA. She wanted to personally thank us for that small act of kindness that helped to pivot her race. She certainly didn’t need to acknowledge the gesture, but it, in turn, brightened our day. It seems like that’s how she would roll. Beginning the ripple of joy and then helping it become a wave. We only wish we could have known her better.
We at Delmarva Adventure Sports are lifting Shelly, and everyone whose life she touched, up in our prayers.
