Due to the current Equine Herpes Virus outbreak affecting multiple states, Tennessee is instituting the following action: For any Equine being imported into the state of Tennessee, the following statement must be included on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection for the animal(s): “The equine listed on this CVI have not originated from a premises that is currently under EHV quarantine and have not been comingled with EHV positive or exposed horses within the last 21 days.”

We encourage show managers to consider postponing any events or exhibitions for a minimum of 3 weeks to avoid spread of this disease by asymptomatic horses.

Please be aware that many states are changing their entry requirements for equine. You will need to contact the state of destination for the most current requirements.

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is monitoring the confirmed exposure of Equine Herpesvirus Type 1 (EHV-1) associated with the equine events in Texas and Oklahoma. At this time, no cases of EHV-1 associated with this outbreak have been identified in Tennessee.

We recommend Tennessee horses who were at the event quarantine at home and that owners monitor any potentially exposed horses for 21 days. EHV-1 can cause respiratory disease, abortion, and neurologic disease. Increase biosecurity measures and remain vigilant for neurologic signs and temperature spikes of 101.5 and above. Should these symptoms arise, work with a private veterinarian for care, and contact the State Veterinarian’s office at 615-837-5120.

Horse owners should continue to practice enhanced biosecurity at shows and events, including avoiding nose-to-nose contact with other horses, not sharing equipment such as buckets, hoses, or grooming tools, monitoring temperatures twice daily, cleaning and disinfecting trailers and tack, and isolating returning horses from the rest of the herd for several days.

There are currently no changes to entry requirements for horses coming into Tennessee or attending shows within the state. TDA will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to this post as needed.

Sprinkles - leopard appy, 16yo, 15.3h, big bodied and has a tail ! Barrel race to jumpers to cross country. Forward and leg sensitive - you ask for it hes going - but reasonable and smart. Used for beginner walk trot lessons teaching leg control and hes a rockstar. Trailers, ties, easyyyy keeper. 15🥕
Cowboy - 13yo, 15.3h, qh/draft. Stuningggg to look at. Rides english and western, willingly jumps, quiet but not dead, came from a ranch out west, trail rides. Trailers, eassyyyyy keeper.

Chip - 13yo qh gelding, not reg. 15.3h. Western & English pleasure - trail rides SO good - beginner safe is an understatement. Way more whoa than go. Up to date on shots, dental just done, great for vet and farrier. Easily could show ranch horse or pleasure with some tuning and spurs (lol). 1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ neg, financing available with insurance.

Sprinkles - 16yo, 15.3h, gelding. Barrel raced in his earlier years, trail rides like a pro, and currently learning (and loves) jumping - he would excel in cross country or eventing he loves it and has a motor! Utd on all vaccines, just had his teeth done, is registered but I did not get papers with him. Good with other horses, fat on air, lives out happily. More go than whoa , but has brakes. 1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ 0️⃣ ️0️⃣ neg, payments optional with insurance

16yo, 16h - built like a tank leopard appy gelding. Rides english and western and jumps... was a barrel racer in his past life ive learned.. more go than whoa and sensitive to leg and seat - hes not for beginners. Utd on everything & very easy keeper, trailers, and ties. Lascassas TN. Pm for info and videos.

Anyone looking for some color in their field? I sadly don't have the time for a young horse with a young human so time to find the horse his own human ♡ 2yo (April bday) sooty buckskin gelding. APHA registered. Start him your way - has been round penned and wore a saddle, will try a bridle in the next week or two. Hes good to handle and good with other geldings in turnout - total in your pocket type. Can be baby mouthy but we are working on that. Hes SUPER athletic - jumps in the field like hes destined to be a jumper but turns on a dime for someone looking for a western riding mount as well. Hes 15.3/16h at 2.25years - should mature 16.1/16.2 easy - hes gonna be big and flashy ! Priced mid/high 4s.
