Update from Chef Chris Mahon:

"We are getting close to the distribution of funds. Sorry it took so long, Lahaina. Please understand there are a lot of moving parts and proper ways of handling funds with a non-profit.

There will be a committee deciding the amount and people with a little guidance from myself and a few others. Please keep in mind, we will not be able to help everyone but will do everything in our power to reach most of your pockets even if it's to buy some groceries.

This is what needs to be done. Please DM me a little information about your personal situation. We will select as many people as possible.

As you know, this event was put together as soon as I heard about the fires. So we raised as much as we could in a short period of time. The next event we will have more time and more money to help as many families as possible.

I am trying to get a grocery store to match funds on gift cards so if anyone that reads this has a connection to Walmart, Costco, Foodland, etc., please reach out to me.

Mahalo for your patience, my Lahaina ohana. Thank you goes out to Love the Sea for being this year's non-profit selection. They have been very dedicated to Maui in these hard times."

Even though the food trucks are gone, the vendors have packed up, and the performers have left the stage, we're still here to remind everyone that the Ohanas of Maui are still recovering.

Please, and share with your friends and family the calls for donations and help.

We've been busy in da kitchen, making our website and social media accounts. Try wait, we hurrying :)

On Sunday, October 8, Taverna Costera () and First Friday Las Vegas () are teaming up to produce the 1st Annual Broke Da Mouth Food Festival, an event Chef Chris Mahon first put on in the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center on Maui in 2012.

We will have three stages of live music and entertainment — including some of the finest acts direct from Maui — between the Taverna roof, the big stage in the main parking lot where First Friday is centered, and 18bin (). We will also have a poke competition brought to you by Aloha Shoyu (); Hawaiian food trucks; food tastings from your favorite Hawaiian and Arts District restaurants and beyond; Hawaii vendors; and a Keiki corner for the kids.

This will be a free event, and THE Maui benefit you won’t want to miss. Oct. 8 is quickly approaching!

And don’t forget that Taverna Costera is a Maui donation center, so please bring any necessities (including clothing, feminine and child care products) to Taverna and get 10% off your food and drink bill, and we will get it to Maui.
