The reason this Saturday is happening. To be honest…
There are a handful of people that truly give themselves to their community. Often times the general public support those who market it better than the ones who actually do. The people that make the honest connections without transactional gain, the artists that book the right people, not just the ones that they’re suppose to. The ones that make the hard choices when most always have opinions and criticism rather than suggestions or conviction.
Melissa is a rare example of how we feel people should carry themselves in the music scene. Kind, thoughtful, gentle, honest, and loyal.
When she asked me to come out of hiatus for .space.bar.eug’s anniversary it was a quick no due to me needing rest from a loss in my family drastically effecting my mental health. But then she expressed how important this venue was to her. She expressed how it was a space in Eugene where artists come to develop. A genuine space for community.
I’ve met only a handful of people in my 9 years of doing music professionally that truly ever gave a s**t about community. So I said yes to my little sister.
If you can only make it to one set Saturday evening, make sure you catch
