Meet another member of the team, Sam Ness! Sam is our host and emcee for each event, introducing and interviewing the groups we have coming to perform. He’s also a touring musician! Here’s a bit more about Sam:

Alongside the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Folk Performer of the Year (2025) and WAMI Acoustic Guitar Player of the Year (2026), Sam Ness is the youngest person to enter the Madison Music Hall Of Fame (for Male Vocalist 2024). Mixing Traditional Folk/Americana roots with an Alternative-Indie feel, and with a vault of international busking adventures as well as more than 1300 shows under his belt, Sam’s catalog is steeped in authenticity. His songs trace the roads he’s walked — from city streets to quiet cabins — always searching for something true. If you’re looking for grit, melody and a voice that moves, Sam’s already on the road.

Meet the man with the plan, Michael Kuchta! Michael is the driving force behind the Highway 61 Concert Series at the Legendary Grantland Theater here in Lancaster, WI. Here's more from Michael:

“After dealing all the time with paperwork and budgets and zoning disputes and people’s trash not getting picked up, believe me, it’s a lot more fulfilling and a lot more fun to work on this music series. And a lot easier on the body than bicycling up and down the hills around here.

“The Grantland Theater is an unappreciated asset for the whole Driftless Region. A new sound system, and these concerts, give people in and around Lancaster a chance to discover what they’re missing.

“Sam Ness is bringing in great music, and we’re making it affordable. These shows are a great reason to get out and have a good time in the middle of the week. And you can still get home in time to go to work in the morning – if you have to.”
