After thoughtful deliberation from MIDFLORIDA’s Board of Directors and Senior Management, a decision has been made to no longer host the show.

The past several years have seen significant changes that affected the show’s future. The growth of downtown Lakeland, which has continued to improve the city, has changed the footprint available for events. While Lakeland continues to serve as the headquarters for MIDFLORIDA, recent expansion to be nearly statewide has caused the need to deploy resources differently, preventing us from devoting the considerable employee labor required throughout the year to host this event. Additionally, the pandemic continues to cause uncertainty about the future of large-scale events, and shifting weather patterns continue to produce tropical storms and hurricanes late in the year, affecting the show’s success. All of this contributed to our decision to end the show.

It could not have continued to thrive and maintain its reputation for excellence without the dedication and talents of our volunteers and participants. Your contributions are highly valued as the lifeblood in making this event possible, and it could not have happened without you.

Thank you for your 20 years of support, time, and loyalty. We will cherish the many fond memories and friendships made over the years.

We’re just as disappointed about the weather as everyone else, but are making the most of it and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow car enthusiasts.

Many of you have inquired about refunds and your comments have not gone unheard. Once the weekend’s events are behind us, we will thoroughly assess the situation and send out additional communication.

Thank you all so much for your patience as we continue the tradition of celebrating cars and having fun with friends.

Update! Thank you for your patience as we work diligently with many community partners to finalize details for tomorrow’s show. We are continuing to monitor Tropical Storm Nestor and a final determination will be made tomorrow morning regarding the placement of show vehicles.

Please see below for some important announcements:

Overnight parking: There are no changes to overnight parking arrangements; you can still park your car in the location previously communicated.

Downtown registrant arrival: Arrival of the Downtown cars has not changed; please report to your assigned gate at your assigned time.

Concours registrant arrival: Please follow the instructions provided directly from Mr. Ford Heacock.

Updated schedule of events*:
10:00 a.m.: Show is open to the public
12:30 p.m.: Plein Air quick draw gallery opens
2:00 p.m.: Downtown awards ceremony
3:00 p.m.: Concours awards ceremony

*Featured car chat, auto biographies, waiter parade, water craft parade, and food trucks have been canceled. Limited kids’ activities will be available.

Tonight’s Budweiser Hot Rod Rendezvous and Sunday’s Road Rally will take place as scheduled.

The storm’s projected path has shifted north, sparing Lakeland from a potentially serious weather event. Scattered thunderstorms are still expected this weekend, but we have decided that the show must go on!

To ensure that vehicles are protected from the elements, Saturday’s event will take place under the cover of two neighboring parking garages in downtown Lakeland. Thank you for your patience as we work diligently to finalize other details, and rest assured that we will provide more information soon.

At this time, we do not anticipate any changes to the Budweiser Hot Rod Rendezvous on Friday night or the Road Rally on Sunday morning.
