What a pleasant surprise to learn that a second photo I submitted to the National Council on Aging’s “Stronger Together” contest was chosen as a staff pick. It feels especially meaningful because it honors these incredible athletes—their strength, spirit, and determination truly deserve to be celebrated.

I am deeply honored to share that my photograph "Still In Sync" has received a Final Winner honor in the National Council on Aging's photography contest called Stronger Together.

But this post isn't really about the photo. It's about these two remarkable men.

Both in their 80s. Still competing. Still winning. Still showing up for each other and for the sport they love at the Master Nationals Rowing Championships. This photo is from the 2024 Championship in Oklahoma.

They are living proof that age is not a finish line. That strength, discipline, and friendship don't have an expiration date.

I hope this image finds its way to someone who needs to see it today — someone who thinks it's too late, that they're too old, or that their best days are behind them.

They are not.

The photograph will be featured in the virtual gallery at ncoaGallery.org, displayed at the NCOA 2026 Age+Action Conference in Arlington, VA, on May 26-29, 2026, showcased in galleries throughout the Washington D.C. area, and added to the permanent collection at NCOA headquarters in Crystal City, VA.

I’m currently working on a portrait project centered around mothers and their children — a collection of images that honor their strength, presence, and the stories they carry.

This project has been on my heart for a while — creating portraits that reflect the quiet strength, love, and presence of mothers.

Over the next few months, I’ll be photographing these sessions, taking the time to let each story unfold naturally.

In September, the portraits will come together in a special exhibit — a collection of stories, connection, and what it means to be a mother.

I am opening this up to 12 families.....there are still spots available!

But it doesn’t stay that way........ it also becomes a gift FROM Mom, a surprise element that will bring the experience to a whole other level.

That’s the intention behind the Mother & Child portrait project I’m creating this spring.

Mothers are often the ones behind the camera, quietly capturing moments of everyone else.

With Mother’s Day approaching, I wanted to do something different to celebrate Families and Motherhood, so I am inviting 12 families to take part in a small Mother & Child portrait project.

The project centers on the connection between mothers and their children and will become part of a larger body of work I am developing.

Each session will include a quiet, unexpected element — a private, meaningful moment that becomes part of the final piece in a way that goes beyond the photograph itself.

Sessions will take place over the next several weeks, and participation is limited.
