Does this picture stress you out????
Walking through my door after a family outing is comparable to walking into an F6 tornado. Can anyone relate? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for family events but that ½ hour of initial chaos when you literally have 50 things to do all within the same few minutes can be a tab bit stressful, to say the least.
We got home at 7:30pm after attending the Chabad at Stony Brook Jewish Summer Festival. We all had a great time- the girls got their face painted, Everett showed off his dance skills, and we all enjoyed the gorgeous weather and amazing beach landscape surrounded by family and friends. While there are always the kicks and screams trying to get everyone in the car, overall the night went smooth minus Everett being determined to eat sand and rocks every chance he had.
Finally back home, home sweet home, after a 12 hour day. It takes three trips with both hands full to empty the car of backpacks, diaper bags, food bags, my pocketbooks (yes I am the official bag lady), strollers, bags from WalMart, and then of course the pile of Amazon boxes and stack of mail. It’s past Everett’s bed time and he is cranky, so trying to prioritize baby first, I drop all the bags in a corner, and warm up his bottle. My girls are a sandy mess with their rainbows and flowers turned into paint wars on their face from crying for ice cream on the way home. I hand them an ice pop, yes sugar right before bed, but the crying was going through my veins at this point!
Finally the chaos ends, and I am so exhausted that I wind up falling asleep while reading the girls a book. I now head downstairs, and that lovely pile is staring at me. I decide to leave it for tomorrow morning, which I know in the back of my head will never get tackled in the AM. Now here’s the issue….I have these piles every which way I turn throughout my house. The mail pile, the toy pile, the I don’t know what to do with this stuff pile, and some of these piles sit ugly for weeks. My husband being super a**l with tidiness and keeping things in order, tends to shove things in places beyond a visible eye, out of sight, out of mind. For me, if the bill on the counter is stacked with the paid bills, also becomes out of sight out of mind, so we tend to butt heads on this topic.
House organization is a REAL struggle and adds to a good amount of stress in life. I have picked up some super helpful tips and tricks from Cynthia Braun, Certified Professional Organizer and Feng SHui Consultant, check out her page Organize Your Life article on getting organized: http://www.organizeyourlife.org/organizing_tips.htm
