LGC held its annual May Social at the beautiful home and garden of member, Mary Beyt. The Women of the Year was awarded to Noreen Bienvenu, the Member of the Year to Debbie Kremheller, and special recognition was given to Denise Lanclos for all that she did for LGC this year. Congratulations to the award winners for their outstanding work for the club. Members provide sweet and savoy foods for lunch. It is always a treat to try the many different dishes. President Becky Lege recapped the works of the club this past year. Pictures of members and/or their spouses who passed away this year were displayed on the memorial table. All toured Mary's amazing garden. It is truly a showcase.

Marc and Danielle Roger’s home located at 704
Rosedown proudly displays the Garden of the Month sign for May.
For Danielle it proved a bit emotional as she recalled her mother,
Margaret Babineaux receiving this honor years before. In fact the
crepe myrtles here were volunteers from her mother’s landscape as
well as other plants.
An abundance of perennials surrounds the low growing
evergreens that line the front porch offering those relaxing in the
rockers a wonderful medley of color and varieties to view. Added
dressing comes in the form of a rock border.
Heading to the back reveals another seating area. To the
planted areas here decorative items have been added lending itself
to a more informal atmosphere.

Congratulations to Dr. Gregory S. Riggs of the Lafayette
Internal Medicine Clinic for being the recipient of the Civic Pride
Award for May 2026. They have been located at 206 Energy Parkway since 2020.
The white backdrop of the brick office building provides
the right setting for a perimeter of the dwarf Japanese Yew ‘Pringles’ with the larger variety breaking the continuity. Seasonal color adds the pop that completes the view.
“The architecture of the structure impacted my landscape design” explains Chap Gary of EdenScapes, “It remains one of my favorites."

If your azaleas have finished blooming, this short spring window is when you can start pruning. Azaleas don't need to be pruned, but you can shape them up to better fit your landscape. Waiting too long into summer or fall can remove flower buds and lead to fewer blooms next spring

DRAGON'S BREATH CELOSIA

Dragon's Breath celosia is brightening the world with gorgeous plumes of blazing color. Provides easy color for spring. The unique plumes and unique foliage bring height and texture to containers, beds and large landscape beds. This fiery beauty exhibits even more red foliage and flowers under adverse garden conditions like heat, humidity and infrequent watering.
