It is with sadness that we share the passing of Michael Higgins of Billerica, Massachusetts, who died while attending the West Coast Symposium.

Michael was committed to addiction education in his community, the same calling that draws so many together each year. The community that gathers around the Symposia on Addictive Disorders and in behavioral health is close knit, bound by shared purpose, and Michael was part of it. His dedication to helping others reflected the best of this field, and his loss is felt among all of us.

We extend our deepest condolences to his three daughters and all who loved him. We are grateful to have shared this work and this community with him.
