Announcing Auditions for the 2012 production!
Please spread the word - we're hoping for a great turnout this year!
AUDITION NOTICE
We are pleased to announce auditions for the 2012 production of “Heart of the Tin Trunk.” We are looking for actors, singers and dancers of all shapes, ages and abilities. This year, we will be holding open auditions in Brenham, La Grange, and Bastrop. We will arrive to each audition an hour early to start signing actors in.
Auditions in LA GRANGE - Wednesday, April 25th.
WHERE: St. Paul Lutheran Church - 427 South Washington Street, La Grange, TX 78945
• We will audition children from 3-5 pm. (Grades 1-8. If you are in High School, please come to the adult auditions.) Please count on being there for as much of the full 2 hours as possible, as we will work with the children in a group. If you have a conflict with school, it will be fine if you have to show up a bit late. Children do not need to worry about preparing anything for the audition. We will provide sides from the script to read from. If you have a song you’d like to sing, please bring either sheet music or a recording of the accompaniment. If you don’t have that, you may sing without music. If you don’t have a song prepared, we will probably have you sing something easy (like Happy Birthday.)
• Adult Auditions will be from 5-8pm. We will conduct these auditions individually. If you have a song and monologue prepared, all the better. But if you do not have this, do not worry. We will have sides from the script there for you to read from. If you have a song you’d like to sing, please bring either sheet music (we will have an accompanist) or a recording of the accompaniment. If you don’t have that, you may sing without music. If you don’t have a song prepared, we will probably have you sing something simple.
• Dance Auditions will be held from 8-9 pm. Please come prepared to move, with proper shoes and clothes. Even if you only consider yourself a “mover,” and not a dancer, we would still like to see you. The dance call will be tailored to suit a variety of ability levels. Similarly, if you consider yourself to be “only” a dancer, we still ask that you show up to the acting/singing portion of the audition.
Auditions in BRENHAM- Monday, April 23rd.
WHERE: Unity Theatre - 300 Church Street ~ Brenham, Texas 77833
• Auditions will be from 5-7:30 pm.
• Dance Auditions will be held from 7:30-8:30 pm.
Auditions In BASTROP – Thursday, April 26th
Where: Inspirations Dance Studio - Located in Alum Creek in the Twister Cheer Building - 1289 Highway 71 E , Bastrop, TX 78602
• Auditions will be from 6-8:00 pm in the small studio. These will be conducted in the same manner as the Brenham auditions.
• Dance Auditions will be held from 8-9:00 pm in the large studio. These will be conducted in the same manner as the Brenham auditions.
Compensation
All actors in the cast will receive a stipend for their contributions to the show. An additional travel stipend may be given for performers traveling from more than 25 miles from La Grange.
Rehearsals & Show dates
We will begin rehearsals on Monday, July 2nd. Most rehearsals will be held in the evening, Monday through Friday. We will have rehearsals on Saturdays as well. We will be very diligent in our scheduling of rehearsals, in order to maximize our use of time. We will not schedule you to be at a rehearsal where you will be sitting around doing nothing. We know that your time is valuable, and if we call you to rehearsal, you will be active. For the first few weeks, you can count on being called to anywhere from 2-5 rehearsals a week, depending on what scenes we are working. Once we get into full run-throughs of the show, (probably by the end of the third week) you will be expected to be at every rehearsal.
We will be rehearsing at St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange. We will move to the theater (Festival Hill in Round Top) starting on Monday, July 23rd. The performance schedule is as follows:
Friday, July 27 – a preview performance at 8:00
Saturday, July 28 at 2:00 and 8:00 pm
Sunday, July 29 at 2:00 pm
Friday August 3 at 2:00 pm
Saturday, August 4 at 2:00 and 8:00 pm
Sunday, August 5 at 2:00 pm
For questions or more information, please feel free to contact me directly. If you would like to audition, but are unable to attend one of the scheduled auditions, please contact me to see if we can set up an alternate audition appointment for you.
Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you at the auditions!
