One glass float was saved as a reserve in case one was broken, etc. We are now putting it up for a drawing you can sign up for if you did not find a glass float! It is on display at the Piper Lounge on the third floor inside the Compass Suites, and you can stop by to enter when the Piper Lounge is open, Thursday 5-9:30 pm, Friday 4:30-9:30 pm, open Saturday at 4:30 pm with the drawing on Saturday at 8:30 pm. The Piper bartender, Becca, will be there Saturday night—she had fun helping to hide the glass floats this year and learning all the beaches!
Need not be present at time of drawing to win.

Thank you to everyone who scoured the beaches this weekend in search of treasure, those that found one and those that can try again next year! This is the second year for the Emerald Isle Floats Treasure Hunt, and we hope to keep it an annual event for a weekend close to July 4th to give the local community a fun outing.
After hearing that we needed more events around the 4th of July, and seeing how fun the glass float hunt was down in Oregon, I thought it would be a great fit for Kodiak.
We believe the majority of the glass floats are found, but most likely there are a few of the best hidden ones still out there. Last year a few were found after the initial two days. I am sure some of you will be still searching over the next few weeks in hopes of finding an elusive glass float!
The Best Western Kodiak Inn & Kodiak Compass Suites take on this event to fund the glass floats/shipping, and we are thankful to Kodiak Chamber of Commerce for supporting the event by creating the awesome flyer and getting the word out to the community.

The Emerald Isle Float Treasure Hunt is coming up 4th of July weekend! Make sure to get out there Friday and Saturday, beginning each day at 10 am, floats will be hidden throughout each day at multiple local beaches from White Sands to Buskin (we might even add in another beach out the road). There are over 100 floats to be found in the two fun days.
Guidelines: For the fun of the weekend and to give as many people a chance to find a glass float, please abide by oner per person, two per family. The start time is 10 am daily, and it is great when people don't start early too we can find some great hiding spots for many of the floats and we don't have to stop and leave the area because people are already looking.
