The Community Council for the Arts is the regional center unifying community ties through exposure to the arts and providing rich cultural experiences while promoting tourism, economic development, and educational opportunities for all This non-profit organization is located in The Arts Center, a restored historic building in Kinston, NC. The Arts Center encourages residents from Lenoir County and the surrounding area to experience the joy, promise, and pursuit of artistic excellence. The Arts Center is handicap accessible and is free and open to the public. The Community Council for the Arts strives to provide rich cultural experiences while promoting tourism, economic development, and educational opportunities for all. This Page serves to inform, instruct and invite participation in the arts. Details shared are intended for the general public and for artists of all skill levels and ages. The Arts Center is affiliated with the National Endowment for the Arts, the North Carolina Arts Council, the Southern Arts Federation, and the North Carolina Preservation Consortium.

Our TAPS programs invite the next generation to find their voice and their groove, completely free of charge (brought to you by the North Carolina Arts Council and North Carolina Arts Foundation):

• TAPS Choir with Marcus Jones (ages 12–18) — traditional songs rooted in our region's musical heritage · Wednesdays, Sept 2–30 · 4:00–5:30 PM
• TAPS Instruments with Weil Sawyer (ages 8–12) — a new song or instrument every week · Thursdays, Sept 3–24 · 4:00–5:30 PM

In the Blizzard Gallery: A Family Legacy of Creativity by Sullivan Anlyan. Sullivan began her art education in sculpture at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her distinctive drawing style has since transformed into iconographic depictions of nature in metallic colors. She's showing alongside her equally creative mother and father. This particular painting was created by Elaine Anlyan.

A painter from Kinston and Greenville, Mary Page learned from many teachers — including her lifetime teacher and Mother, Mickey Hogarth. Color, light, and the surprises of sun and shadow define her canvases.
