INTRODUCING THE KINGSTON ARTCAR DERBY!
After 30 incredible years of celebrating creativity and community with our beloved Kingston Artists Soapbox Derby, it’s time for a bold new chapter. Due to trademark restrictions from the International Soap Box Derby, Inc. (ISBD), we’ve
been asked to retire the name “Soapbox Derby.” The ISBD holds multiple federal trademarks for terms like “SOAP BOX DERBY,” “SOAP BOX,” and others—some dating back to 1934.

But here’s the exciting part: we’ve grown big enough to be noticed!
That’s a testament to the passion, artistry, and energy this community has poured into the event for three decades.
So, we’re thrilled to announce our new name: THE KINGSTON ARTCAR DERBY —same spirit, same kinetic creativity, brand new momentum!

Now, we need your help to launch the First Annual Kingston Artcar Derby on AUGUST 16, 2026.

Whether you’re an artist, organizer, dreamer, or doer, we invite you to join our planning committee. Bring your ideas, your time, and your talent to help us reimagine this iconic event for the next generation.

Cast Your Vote for the People’s Choice Award!
After the excitement of the parade and while the judges deliberate over the top cash winners, it’s time for you to weigh in! Head over to TR Gallo Park where all the Artist Soapbox Derby entries will be lined up, each with its own voting can in front. Pick up your voting ticket at the Awards Table, and choose the entry that steals your heart!
Remember, it’s one vote per person, so make it count. The entry with the most votes will be crowned the People’s Choice winner and announced during the Awards Ceremony. Don’t miss your chance to support your favorite creation! Ulster County Italian American Foundation
