MAYBE YOU CAN’T REALLY MEASURE A BIKE RACE IN MILES.
35 on Harriman. 4.5 against the clock on Dollarhide.
19, 57, 104, or 118 on Saturday.
Those numbers tell you how far we went.
They don’t come close to telling you where we went together.
Because the moments we’ll remember from the final Rebecca’s Private Idaho probably won’t be the ones on a course map.
An athlete accessing Harriman on an OPDMD after years of work to open that door.
The Death to Doubt athletes reminding us what can happen when we make a little more room for possibility.
A volunteer waiting in the middle of nowhere.
A stranger becoming a friend in the pain tunnel.
Someone saying “keep going” exactly when you needed it.
A finish line meaning something different to every person who crossed it.
The bike gets you here. What happens after that is the point.
People. Purpose. Place.
Riders, volunteers, locals, staff, families, friends, and partners showing up for one another.
Opening doors that weren't open before.
A belief, shared by Be Good Foundation from the beginning, that bikes can create connection, build confidence, and sometimes even change the direction of a life.
And this place.
Idaho was never just the backdrop. The mountains, the quiet, the roads that keep going long after you think they should turn around. Maybe that's why so many arrive calling RPI a bucket-list ride and leave wondering when they can come back.
And all of it leads back to Rebecca Rusch.
You invited people into a place you loved, then let what you created grow beyond you.
Rebecca, thank you for dreaming this thing up and building something worth carrying forward.
You gave this event your name. What you gave it beyond your name is what we’ll carry forward.
Which is why this doesn't feel like an ending.
The Big Lost River moves through these mountains, disappears underground, keeps traveling, and eventually rises again miles away.
The river doesn’t end. It continues. And it comes back changed.
So do we.
The name changes.
The people stay. The purpose stays. The place stays.
Now...let’s see where the river takes us.
