The Toastmaster is the person who runs the meeting. It’s usually a different person each week. They can choose a theme for the meeting and fill in the time throughout the meeting before they introduce another person to fulfill another role in the meeting. The Toastmaster can adjust their own comments to make sure the meeting ends on time.

Do you want to become a more effective leader?

Leadership is not inherent to only a few “born” leaders. It can be learned. Great leaders start by understanding themselves.

In Toastmasters, one of the early projects in the Pathways program is “Understanding Your Leadership Style”. This project helps members explore how they naturally lead, communicate, and work with others. This project has a quiz that helps you learn about your most prevalent leadership styles.

By learning about different leadership styles, members gain insight into their strengths and weaknesses and to discover ways to grow. You will also learn how to adapt your approach to better support and motivate others or team members who may not have the same style as you do.

Leadership isn’t just about being in charge—it’s about understanding people, building trust, and guiding others toward success. This project helps you take an important step on that journey to become a leader in life, at work or in your community.

Since 1924, Toastmasters International has transformed nearly eight million lives through a simple, yet powerful, mission: empowering individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.

Come join us and learn what your leadership style is: https://www.toastmasters.org/

One of the most valuable skills you can learn in Toastmasters is impromptu speaking. In a safe and welcoming environment at one of our club meetings, you can practice answering unexpected questions that come up at work or in life.

During each meeting, members and guests can participate in a segment called Table Topics, where you’re invited to speak for 1–2 minutes on a question you’ve never heard before. It might sound intimidating at first, but it’s actually one of the most fun and supportive parts of the meeting.

Impromptu speaking helps you think on your feet, organize your thoughts quickly, and speak with confidence — whether you’re answering a question in a work meeting, answering a question at a job interview, or describing concisely what you do for work to someone else at a networking event.

The best part? At our club meetings, everyone is learning together and encouraging each other along the way.

That’s the power of Toastmasters — building confidence one speech or Table Topic at a time. 🎤

You thinking about improving your speaking and leadership skills and wanting to checking out Toastmasters. But what is Toastmasters and how can it help me?

One of the most valuable benefits of joining Toastmasters is the educational program offered by Toastmasters International. It’s called the Pathways Learning Experience. It’s designed to help members build communication and leadership skills in a practical, supportive environment.

The program works through a simple structure: Paths, Levels, and Projects. First, members choose one of 6 Paths, which are learning tracks focused on certain skills. For example, someone might choose Presentation Mastery, Dynamic Leadership, or Motivational Strategies depending on their goals.

Each path contains five levels. Within each level are projects. These are the actual assignments where the learning happens. Projects may include giving speeches, leading a team, practicing persuasive communication, or developing leadership strategies.

The real learning happens right here in our club meetings. By giving speeches, participating in Table Topics, taking meeting roles, and receiving supportive feedback, members practice the skills they’re learning in Pathways.

In short, the Toastmasters education program provides a clear path for personal growth—helping members become more confident speakers, stronger leaders, and better communicators. Visit https://www.toastmasters.org/Find-a-Club/00008333-kent-toast-n-boast-toastmasters-club to check out our club>

Have you attended meetings where you feel like only one person does all the talking? Everyone else is either too shy and hiding in their shell or are not engaged enough to say anything? Toastmasters can help with this!

Toastmasters club meetings are structured with an agenda and kept on track with a timer. Every meeting has the goal to have everyone at the meeting to have a chance to speak. This is achieved by assigning roles like:
- a timer
- an evaluator
- a speaker
- the Toastmaster, the person who runs the meeting

Another way everyone is encourage to speak up at club meeting is through Table Topics, where a question is asked and someone at the meeting answers it in a 1 to 2 minute answers.

Best of all, we clap for everyone who takes part in our meeting right after they speak!!

If you want to learn how to get people involved and participating in your meetings, come check out one of our club's weekly meetings.
