Maine Stonework The other day someone said that they remembered me because I was so passionate about stonework. I can't ask for anything more than that....

Swung in for a quick bite cause I had to look at a job down the street. Still looks pretty sweet, and while I always have people tell me there shouldn’t be so much stuff all over it, I totally disagree. If you’ve been to any of the spots, you’ll know that’s how decorates them all, so I intentionally gave her plenty of spots to put whatever she wanted. I love it and can’t wait to build the next one in Kittery.

In amongst all the dust, noise, and chaos, something worthwhile is growing. I had no real plan for this one, and I’m grateful that the client was ok with my flying by the seat of my pants. It’s the story of my life really, just like Jerry Jeff said, “I’m takin’ it as it comes”

I built this a bunch of years ago now, but I always enjoy seeing it when I’m in the area. The funniest part of this project was that I told the builder that the hearth was going to be really heavy so I needed them to make sure the floor was supported really well to hold the weight(for some reason they decided not to pour or lay any block under the hearth because they assumed the floor joists would hold the weight just fine). When I showed up with this ten foot long stone, they instantly told me to wait and proceeded to spend the next two days beefing up under it. 😂

That look of “am I sure I built the floor strong enough” on their faces never gets old.

While I was in Vermont the past few days, I had the absolute pleasure of going to visit this monstrosity of a moongate that Jared Flynn and friends built over in Putney. I’ve seen plenty of photos already, but getting to see it in person was pretty damn cool. Kudos to Jared and whoever helped him, and thanks to for allowing it to be built on their property. Well worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Didn’t wanna start a new project on a Friday so I swung over to a site to give em a little push on a pretty big job they have going on in the port. Really nice day with the crew there, and while I rarely use the same stone they do, I might start throwing more into my stuff because it shapes so effortlessly. I’ve never had a stone listen so well to my psychotic hammer blows, but this stuff is a dream. Thanks for letting me hang, guys, let’s do it again. 👊🏼

There’s something about building a wall into ledge that makes me smile when done properly. I started this and then had finish it as a practice wall for using the notorious “barnyard blend” mix of stone. The mix is a secret, but the way it’s laid is as basic as walling gets.

This is the work of my buddy and you’ve seen his stuff on my page before. He got hacked and had to start over, so go give his page a follow so he feels the pressure to start sharing his work with us on his new page! Lucky you, if you start now you’ll never have to scroll backwards, you’ll just be able to enjoy them as he posts!! I’m actually looking forward to that too, and since im sharing this I’m gonna guilt him into sharing so many more photos than he did before. You deserve to see it, and he deserves it to be seen. Go follow now, dammit!! 😂

Me and an old friend spent the past few days helping out another old friend with a retaining wall at his place. This stone is called “blasted ledge”, because it’s the stone that was blasted out of the ground so they could build a foundation for the house. It’s the worst stone ever, but I’ve definitely been enjoying the challenge, mostly. 😂
