Nebraska Crane is seeking a knowledgeable diesel mechanic who can perform diagnostic testing, repair and preventative maintenance on medium/heavy duty trucks or equipment. Diesel mechanics need to be highly organized and communicate effectively.
Service Department Operations
• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identify worn and damaged parts.
• Keeps equipment available for us by completing preventive maintenance; installing components and parts; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting. Overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, components, parts within systems such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air condition, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
• Interprets diagnostic test results accurately.
• Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans.
• Collaborate with other diesel technicians.
• Performs test drive to gauge performance.
• Adhere to inspection procedure checklist.
• Use power, machine and hand tools safely.
• Follows all repair shop regulations and standards.
• Ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
• Knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms.
• Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software.
• Treat all employees and customers fairly, courteously, and with dignity.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrate time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid CDL Class A
• High School diploma or GED certificate
• Diesel Technician or mechanic degree preferred but will training the right applicant.
• 1-2 years’ experience with diesel and gas engine truck repair.
• Must have own tools.
