Yesterday’s race was filled with so many inspiring moments. A 4-year-old girl completed her 1-mile run without taking a single step to walk. A young boy pushed himself from the 1-mile into a fast 5K. Another participant showed incredible determination by finishing her 1-mile in over 30 minutes. They were many people did their 1st running race!

Every one of them is a true winner. 💪 Congratulations to you all! 🎉🎉🎉

Race Update for Tomorrow!

Great news—construction is complete, and we’re back to our normal route! 🎉
All courses are out-and-back:

* 1 Mile: Turn around just before reaching the bridge
* 5K: Turn around just before Cinco Ranch Blvd

We have an amazing turnout this week—so many runners signed up! 🙌
The weather is looking perfect, and we can’t wait to see everyone at the start line.

Race Cancellation Notice – This Sunday

After carefully monitoring the weather and listening to our community, we’ve made the difficult but responsible decision to cancel this Sunday’s Katy Free 5K due to cold temperatures and safety concerns.

The forecast shows temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s (°F) throughout the morning. For a free, family-friendly event like ours—especially with kids, volunteers, and early morning conditions—safety always comes first.

The good news: Katy Free 5K isn’t going anywhere. We’ll be back next month and we’re especially excited to celebrate our 1-year anniversary in March, when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy a big crowd, great energy, kids, and all the fun—just the way it should be 🎉

Thank you all for your understanding, continued support, and for being such an amazing community. Please stay warm, stay safe, and we’ll see you very soon!
