We have volunteer opportunities available for Saturday, February 22.
Volunteers receive an event shirt.

Here's a list of tasks:

Race Setup, Day of Race 6:15 AM to 8 AM
Show up at start area by 6:15. Help unload and setup.

Packet Pickup, Day of Race 6:30 AM - 9 AM
Help with packet pickup on Saturday, February 25.

Aid Station Helper - 8 AM to Noon
Work at an aid station to help runners finish their event. Show up at the start area by 7:30 AM.

Aid Station Helper - Noon to 4PM
Work at an aid station to help runners finish their event. Show up at the start area by noon.

Aid Station Helper - All Day
Work at an aid station to help runners finish their event. Show up at the start area by 7:30 AM.

Finish Line Helper (9:30 AM to 3 PM)
Cheer-in finishers and help with medals and awards at the finish line.

Logistics - All Day
Have your own vehicle and cellphone. Run supplies out to aid stations as needed. Ferry runners back from aid stations as needed. Show up at the start area by 6:30 AM.

Course Sweep & Cleanup (show-up at 1PM)
Follow the last runner/hiker to ensure their safety; keep them in sight at all times. Carry your cellphone and get the race director's number. While walking, pickup course markings and leave them at the aid stations that you pass.

Race Cleanup, Loading 2 PM - 5 PM
Show up at start area by 2 PM. Help cleanup utensils, pots and containers and load the truck.

First Aid All Day (10AM to 5PM)
Show up at start area by 10 AM. Stay at main aid station and be ready to assist injured or sick runners.

For Psycho WyCo participants (tomorrow):

The 50 km and 20 mile distance events start promptly at 8 AM.
The 10 mile distance event starts promptly at 9 AM.
There are no early starts.
Packet Pickup starts an hour prior to your race.

Highly Recommended:
Water bottle or hydration device.

Getting there:
Input this address into Google, Waze, etc:
Shelter house 2 access road, Wyandotte County Lake Park
Park smartly and tightly.
Do NOT park on the grass.

The course will be marked with yellow arrow signs and wrong-way signs.
The in-between sections on grass will have pink flags leading you to the trail.
The short 0.3 mile pavement section after the dam will be marked with cones.
Follow those cones to the trail entrance, which will be on your right.
Always watch out for cars on the road section or when crossing pavement.

The trail is well-maintained and dry. It should be a very fast course this year!😊

The course measured 10.50-miles, 1867’ elevation gain, with a Garmin Fenix 7.

All volunteers for this event can earn one free race entry that can be used for any Trail Nerds race for 2024 or 2025.

Here are some volunteer duties that are available:

Packet Pickup
Friday (today) packet pickup at Comfort Suites in the Breakfast area, 3 PM till 8 PM.
Exit 15 of I-435,

Race Day Packet Pickup at the race location, 1 hour prior to your event.

And yes, there will be Late Registration at both of the Packet pick-ups, the day prior to the race, and at the race itself.
Parking and Race Day Transportation
Race Day PARKING for the 10-Miler and the 20-Miler will be off-site, due to the size of the races (and the small size of the main parking lot). But, if you are car-pooling / riding with a 50K entrant, you can tag along with them for the ride. ONLY 50K entrants and pre-signed-up volunteers can park in the lot by the race start. Please carpool!

10-Miler & 20-Miler Race Day parking will have a shuttle service starting at 6:30 AM, and will be leaving from this lot:

This church is right behind the Comfort Suites motel, near Leavenworth Rd & I-435.

Directions:
From I-435 South
Take exit 15A for KS-Highway 5 S (Leavenworth Rd East). Merge onto KS-Highway 5 S/ (Leavenworth Rd.) Turn right on N. 103rd Terrace.

From I-435 North
Take exit 15A for KS-Highway 5 S (Leavenworth Rd East). Merge onto KS-Highway 5 S / (Leavenworth Rd.) Turn right at N.103rd Terrace.

The shuttles will run until 3 PM. We have volunteers that can take you there, after that.

Friends and families (and canines) are allowed on the buses, too. The shuttles will run continuously during the event. Parking in the ranger station lot will be reserved for 50K entrants and volunteers, only...NO EXCEPTIONS!

The shuttles only have to go 1-1/2 miles, so don’t worry about it taking a long time. There will be a shuttle leaving the lot, every 10 minutes or so.

Trail conditions for Saturday:
This year's trail conditions are great right now (with the snow), and the weather for Saturday is supposed to have a low of 26F, and a high of 41, with rain in the forcast. Please dress accordingly.
If the rain comes, it WILL get muddy.

10-Miles: one 10.4-mile loop.
20-Miles: two 10.4-mile loops.
The 50K course consists of three 10.4 mile loops of technical single track and Bridle Trail. Each loop has 1300 feet of elevation gain, with three of the biggest Hills coming in the last 2 miles. Sometimes the course is muddy; sometimes it is frozen solid; but usually it is dry, firm and fast.

This race is very popular and has a party atmosphere, replete with a DJ!
50K finishers receive an awesome spinning-tornado medal, an oval distance sticker, and a "Psycho Wyco 50K Finisher" Ouray trucker cap. Swag for the race includes a very nice zip hoodie, a Buff, and a logo beer glass. Keeping with the party atmosphere, we always have three or four different craft beers on tap (and/or the race director's own homebrew on tap), regular and vegan chili, and incredible pre-paid-for and downloadable race photos by Mile 90 Photography. There are also nice cash premiums for first through third place (overall).

This Race Includes:
A well-marked course with lots of aid, with experienced volunteers.
Chip Timing.
Chili: regular (meaty) & gluten-free vegan.
Beer: on-tap craft beer and cheap beer. Other beverages.
The famous nice-fitting zip hoodie, downloadable Photos by Mile 90 Photography, race logo glass, and event-specific race bibs.
A great D.J.!
A Buff that can be worn for cold or hot weather.
Free weekend training runs (on the course), leading up to the event.
