I love that a week later folks are still talking about and posting about Purple Jam.

Next year is going to be on for the books. We’re pulling in some truly heavy hitters and surprises.

We’ve already had a few of Kansas City’s biggest and best bands agree to do the show. And those bands will start being announced in the upcoming months.

We have a one of the greatest hard rock singers of all time (in my opinion anyway) who has said he’s available as of now and is excited to be a part of the show.

I’m bringing a couple ringers from Nashville and Minneapolis as well.

This will be the most unique purple jam to date. And I believe it will shape up to be one of the best we’ve ever done. In fact, I’m concerned it will be really hard to top it. But you never know!

The song list has already been made. And there won’t be a song all night that you don’t know. Every song was a hit.

We’re even bringing back one of the greatest stripper anthems of all time 😂 (my least favorite Prince hit - y’all know if you know me, you know which song)

Here’s how it’s going to work. There will be about ten to fifteen local KC based bands. They will play one or two songs each. The remaining songs will be treated like usual. And signups for those songs will be released after the bands have chosen their songs.

Some folks will have to send videos of themselves playing through their song choices so I can choose the best players for each of those songs.

Those who seem to fit the song the best performance wise will be assigned that song.

We’re also going to be working with either Music House School or School Of Rock to get the kids involved in the show again like we did a few years ago.

We will also be bringing back the “Songs Prince wrote for other artists” spotlight again.

Tickets for next year will be available on the Knuckleheads website very soon for next year’s show as well.

I’m super stoked to bring you all an unforgettable experience that’s more along the lines of the Rare Hare shows I do in Nashville.

So mark your calendars for May 30th, 2027. You will not want to miss out on this.

2027. May 30th. Purple Jam 9 will take place at the mighty Knuckleheads Kansas City

But we’re changing some things up a little. I’m reaching out to some of the best bands KC has to offer and hoping they’ll be willing to come out as a band and perform one of their favorite Prince tracks.

There will be a couple of special guests as well coming from Nashville and other places as well.

Also the vetting process will be a little more strict than usual regarding who gets to perform and each doesn’t.

While I love everyone who played, and thought most of the performances went well and were very fun, there were a lot of “deer in headlights” moments where it was very evident that some didn’t come prepared. And the truth of the matter is, quality is VERY important when it comes to these shows in my eyes. A lot of people are paying their hard earned money to come see this, and it should be taken seriously and the performances need to be rehearsed and solid come day if show.

So from here on out, rehearsals will be required/mandatory. If the song isn’t rehearsed, it will either get dropped OR the people on that song will be replaced with people willing to rehearse.

I want Purple Jam to continue to grow and be an unforgettable experience for both the musicians AND the audience. I want this to be something we can proudly live stream and know that what is being broadcast is solid and polished and worthy of the money spent to attend it.
