Our recent Ladies Fika Tea was such a wonderful time. We loved hearing from book author Melissa Bahen about her many beloved books, but especially the lovely Scandinavian Gatherings book and its connection to her family and roots. We devoured the many treats, enjoyed dozens of cups of tea, and made a crafty bookmark project together. It was truly a perfect fika.

We are each known for something, and often it can change depending on what part of our life we are in, who we are with, or where we are located. To us, we knew Jeanne Simpson as a talented artist.

When we heard the news that Jeanne Simpson had passed, we felt that loss of a wonderful community member and artist. Jeanne has left her signature all over the community and the Scandinavian Festival, both literally and figuratively. Jeanne helped paint the glorious backdrops that our Festival proudly displays on our main stage each year, her name signed to the work she labored over. She sold her beautiful artwork for many years in the Art League booth. She painted a booth in weather far too hot, without complaint, determined to work until it was complete. Because of these immense talents and willingness to help, Jeanne received our Distinguished Service Award in 2018.

There are certainly far more things for which she is known, but to the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation, we knew her as an artist, willing to fill our Festival with the beauty of her diligent hands.

Jeanne's family has asked us to share her Celebration of Life information, for anyone that would like to attend. It is being held on May 17th at 3:00pm at Christ's Center Church in Junction City.

We are overjoyed to share that contributions toward the upcoming Festival Park Stage Restoration Project have now reached $24,990.21!

During our Giving Tuesday Campaign, generous supporters gifted $13,771.94, and the Scandinavian Cultural Foundation matched $6,884.47, helping your generosity go even further. The outpouring of community enthusiasm and encouragement has truly meant the world to the volunteers at SCF. Every message of support, every shared story, and every act of kindness has energized our team and reminds us why we do this work.

Beyond financial gifts, many individuals have generously donated their time, expertise, and services to this project, contributions that are immeasurable and not reflected in these numbers. These acts of generosity bring us closer to restoring Festival Park Stage as a vibrant space for youth cultural education and community events for generations to come.

We are profoundly grateful to every person who has supported, encouraged, or inspired us. Your belief in our mission and your willingness to invest in our community mean more than words can express. Together, we are turning a vision into reality, and we can’t wait to share the progress with you!
