✊ Did you know the first Pride wasn’t a parade…
…it was a riot?

Early on the morning of June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, NYC—trying to erase us from public life. But that night, q***r people stood their ground and said:

✨ “No. We have a right to exist in public.” ✨

More than 50 years later, that same fight continues—not always with bricks or protests, but with presence. With parades. With families, flags, and flutter signs in small towns where it matters most.

Today, it may feel overwhelming.
Headlines erase us.
Museums censor us.
Laws threaten us.
Social media mocks us.

But do not fear—because you are not alone.
You have generations of q***r ancestors standing behind you.
You have public officials, neighbors, teachers, friends, and even strangers standing beside you.
And you have this moment.

🌈 FulMont Pride isn’t about riots, politics, or agendas.
It’s about people.

👶 Kids who deserve to grow up safe.
👵 Elders who’ve marched before us.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families who show up with open hearts.
💃 Friends and allies who dance in joy and defiance.
🧑‍🎤 YOU—with your full, radiant, complicated self.

Because in the end, our light is greater than any story made up to dim us.

🗓️ Join us: Sunday, September 21 | 10AM–2PM | FMCC
💻 www.fulmontpride.org

Stand with officials, moms, dads, students, artists, lovers, loners, and legends.
Stand with your ancestors.
Stand with yourself.

✨ Be a part of the rainbow. Be a part of your story. ✨

🏳️‍🌈👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 DAY 6 of the 10 DAYS OF PRIDE COUNTDOWN! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🏳️‍🌈

🌟 Family, Found & Forever.

Big news first:
We’re honored to announce that Dr. Gregory Truckenmiller, President of FMCC, will officially kick off FulMont Pride with our incredible lineup of community leaders:

🎤 EMCEE: Anthony Krolowitz of News 10
🎖️ Sheriff Jeffrey Smith – Montgomery County
🏛️ County Executive Pete Vroman – Montgomery County
👩‍⚖️ Mayor Amy Praught – City of Johnstown
🇺🇸 Senator Paul Tonko – U.S. House of Representatives

✨ And YOU, our extended FulMont family. ✨

💞 Today, on Day 6, we’re honoring the people who’ve stood by us when it wasn’t easy to stand at all: Family.

Long before there was PFLAG…
Before rainbow bumper stickers and ally hashtags…

There were moms in marches, holding handmade signs that said:
“I love my gay son.”
“Closet moms? Never.”

They showed up when showing up was dangerous.

And today, they're still showing up—with strollers, lawn chairs, and open arms.
🌈 This Sunday, we expect families of all kinds to fill the FMCC campus:
👶 Kids bouncing in the Youth Zone
👵 Grandmas clapping along to the music
👨‍👨‍👧 Proud dads walking beside their newly-out kids

💌 And maybe, just maybe, you—getting the courage to say something you’ve never said before.

Whether you’re out, coming out, thinking about it, or just want to share a magical moment with your mom over fried dough and rainbow flags—this is the place.

This is the time.

🏳️‍🌈🔥 DAY 7 of the 10 DAYS OF PRIDE COUNTDOWN 🔥🏳️‍🌈

🕊️ Seven Days Out. Seven Reasons to Remember.

As we inch closer to FulMont Pride on Sunday, Sept 21st, today we reflect—not just on celebration—but on the sacrifice and strength that brought us this far.

🎥 Watch this: Larry Kramer's Historic Speech – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mocXSBxaPK4 (NSFW language)

💔 In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, after a decade of devastation from the HIV/AIDS crisis—particularly among gay men—the world was watching… and doing very little.

When our government turned its back, we rose.
When medicine failed us, we became the cure.
When silence was killing us, we screamed.

ACT UP was born out of rage and necessity.
But even movements fracture. Even families fight.

And in one of the most iconic speeches of our time, Larry Kramer stood up and reminded us:

“We are in the middle of a plague... and you’re fighting among yourselves?”

He became that leader for me in my 20s—a voice that could cut through noise and ego to say:
“Enough. We rise together or we don’t rise at all.”

⚖️ Fast forward to today.

We live in an age of division:
Left vs. Right.
Us vs. Them.
Even within our own communities.
But Pride isn’t about who's the loudest online.
It’s not about perfection or purity.

🌈 It’s about putting our egos aside and focusing on what unites us.

It's about being the voice of calm in the chaos.
It’s about speaking truth, even when it’s hard.
In a world of personalized newsfeeds, curated clicks, and filtered feelings—

🗣️ Be the one who brings people together.
✊ That's what Pride means to me.

And in just 7 days, we’ll gather to do exactly that.

🏳️‍🌈✨ DAY 8 of the 10 DAYS OF PRIDE COUNTDOWN! ✨🏳️‍🌈

📍 Signs & Signals: The Path to FulMont Pride

Today, our volunteers fanned out across the Mohawk Valley to photograph the signs we've placed in towns, cities, and communities—reminders that FulMont Pride is just 8 DAYS AWAY on Sunday, September 21st at FMCC!

But these signs?
They’re more than just directions to a festival.

They’re part of a long legacy of how our LGBTQIA+ community has quietly, creatively, and courageously said:

✨ “You’re not alone.”
✨ “You’re safe here.”
✨ “This is your place, too.”

📖 In the 1960s, long before Google Maps and Yelp, q***r travelers relied on coded travel guides, like Damron's to find welcoming diners, hotels, and bars. An idea borrowed from our African American brothers and sisters who used something called "The Negro Motorist Greenback"

🎀 In the 1980s and 90s, we wore red ribbons to fight stigma and support those we lost.

🔺 And even earlier, the pink triangle, once used to persecute us during the Holocaust, was reclaimed as a symbol of resistance and remembrance.

Whether on a sticker, a bracelet, a bumper, or a billboard—we've always found each other through signs and signals.

📸 Today, our signs shine bright in windows, lawns, and streets across the valley—placed by loving hands, volunteers with vision, and hearts full of pride.

🗣️ Now, we're asking YOU to be a sign, too.
📲 Tag a friend, share this post, invite your people.

Let’s fill the campus at FMCC with love, laughter, and liberation.

💫 See you in 8 days.

💖 Pride Flashback – DAY 9: The Flag That Found Us

Did you know the original rainbow Pride flag was designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, an artist and activist who wanted to create a symbol of hope, visibility, and unity for the LGBTQ+ community?

🏳️‍🌈 The first version featured eight radiant stripes—each with deep meaning:
🔴 Life
🟠 Healing
🟡 Sunlight
🟢 Nature
🔵 Turquoise (Art & Magic)
🟣 Indigo (Harmony)
🟤 Violet (Spirit)
💖 Hot Pink (S*x)

Following the tragic assassination of Harvey Milk in 1978, the flag quickly became a global symbol of LGBTQ+ solidarity—a reminder that we survive, we thrive, and we shine brighter together.

Fast forward to 1988, and I was a newly out graduate with my first ever gay bumper sticker—a quiet beacon to other q***rs.

Back then, we whispered:
“Are they family?”
“Are they a friend of Dorothy’s?”
We found each other—through color, through courage, through love.

Today, the flag has evolved, and so have we.
🏳️‍⚧️ The Progress Flag now includes Trans, Non-Binary, Black, and Brown stripes—because Pride is for all of us.

🌈 At FulMont Pride, our Pride Ambassadors will be decked out in flag colors—ready to share the stories behind every stripe.

🎉🏳️‍🌈 DAY 10 of the 10 DAYS OF PRIDE COUNTDOWN 🏳️‍🌈🎉

🚨 BREAKING PRIDE NEWS! 🚨
We are THRILLED to announce that Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Smith will be joining our opening ceremonies at FulMont Pride on Sunday, September 21st, 10AM–2PM at FMCC!

He’ll be standing proudly with our already-confirmed amazing public officials:
🌟 Mayor Amy Praught of Johnstown
🌟 County Executive Pete Vroman of Montgomery County
🌟 Our forever fierce Congressman, Senator Paul Tonko

🔥 But guess what else just happened? 🔥
➡️ Our BILLBOARD is officially LIVE and larger than life!
➡️ Our STREET SIGNS are rolling out TONIGHT!
➡️ Our POSTERS are popping up in local shops!
➡️ Our CARD MAPS are ready to guide you to the rainbow!

We're not just throwing an event—we're launching a movement. One filled with love, laughter, visibility, and a little bit of leather (more on that in a sec 👀).

💖 A personal Pride flashback from our FulMont Pride family:
In 1977, a little 10-year-old q***r soul begged his dad to take him to see Gloria Gaynor (because of course). What he didn't know was that the Village People would be the opening act. Picture it: chaps, leather, and a confused father surrounded by joyful, liberated q***rs in full regalia. 🏍️🌈

As they left, Dad muttered, “Well... I hope you enjoyed the conference.”
To which that wide-eyed future trailblazer replied:
“It was a little more interesting than I expected.”

🥹 And isn’t that what Pride is all about?

📍 Join us. Be part of history. Laugh. Sing. Dance. Survive.
✨ FulMont Pride – Sunday, Sept 21 | 10AM–2PM | FMCC ✨
Let’s make memories that your 10-year-old self would be proud of.
