Green Days is an annual community celebration held in Johnston, Iowa, at Terra Park. The 2023 festival will be held June 15th-18th! When the event was started in 1996, it focused on Johnston's agricultural and horticultural tradition. The Chamber worked with Johnston's many nursery and greenhouse operations, local garden clubs and other groups, to start this tradition - and helped it grow to be on

e of Iowa's leading summer festivals. Today, the Green Days activities include a parade, carnival, children's activities, entertainment in the beverage garden, 5K walk and run and much more! Green Days is organized by the Johnston Chamber of Commerce.

Memorial Day is observed annually on the last Monday of May and serves as a solemn occasion to reflect on the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in service to the United States. Originally called Decoration Day, the holiday began after the American Civil War when communities decorated the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers. The first national observance took place on May 30, 1868, at Arlington National Cemetery, following a proclamation by Major General John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic.
