Quinn Simmons repeats the third time as the USA Professional Road National Champion followed by the only other World Tour American's in the race for the top four places. All four of these World Tour racers ride for different World Tour Teams. None of them had any teammates in the 102 racers that started the championship race. They dominated all the teams some of which had 12 racers on their team. One conclusion is that road racing in the US is not hard enough to develop American racers. The lack of enough road races like the Roan Groan, with a category 1 mountain top finish, are not available for our pro racers. The US pro racing has become almost exclusively criteriums which are excellent for developing sprinting but not explosive accelerations on climbs. The National Championship climbs were 3 km long averaging 5% or category 3 and still our domestic pros lacked the ability to hold a World Tour racers wheel.
