A sacred music celebration is coming up this weekend in Johnson City.

2 weeks from today is the Annual Sacred Music Celebration of East Tennessee. This year, I'm most excited about the Hallelujah Chorus Sing-a-long! Everyone is invited to sing or play. If you want to become more familiar with the Chorus, there are 3 open community rehearsals:
Today, Sunday April 13th, 2:30pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Johnson City (211 Mayflower Rd, Johnson City, TN)
Wednesday, April 23rd, 6pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Johnson City (211 Mayflower Rd, Johnson City, TN)
Sunday, April 27th, 4:30pm at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church 201 S. Roan St. Johnson City, TN. This rehearsal is just prior to the celebration and we will be joining with the Science Hill High School Orchestra and Choir! A community pasta meal will be served in between the rehearsal and music celebration.

The Science Hill Orchestra will be performing the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah, and will be joined by a collaborative church and community choir. The audience will be invited to join the Messiah Sing-along.

I agree with what Hans Christian Anderson said: "When words fail, music speaks." For me music is often the language of the heavens, communicating deep spiritual feelings and truths. Music is also a connecting tool. This is why the Sacred Music Celebration has been such a meaningful project for me to be a part of the last 4 years. Here in East Tennessee, music is part of our culture, our personal narrative, and for many of us, our spirituality and faith tradition. You are warmly invited to connect with our community as we enjoy gospel, folk, and classical Sacred music. March 26th, 2023, 7pm, Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church.
