Big news from Newport Skates ☀️

As we transition from winter to summer, we’re excited to officially introduce Newport Racquet Club, opening May 2026 on the Newport waterfront.

The same space that hosts Newport Skates each winter will transform into Jersey City’s newest outdoor destination for pickleball, tennis, open play, leagues, group classes, private lessons, and community events all season long.

Newport Racquet Club will feature:
• Four resurfaced outdoor courts
• Open Play for all skill levels
• Group Classes and private coaching
• Weekend Ladder Leagues
• Kids programming and beginner clinics
• Private rentals, rooftop events, and corporate buyouts

Memberships are just $120 annually, with Newport residents receiving 50% off, plus benefits like free paddle rentals, off-peak pricing all season, and priority access to leagues and events.

From ice skating in the winter to pickleball and tennis in the summer, this space is becoming a true year-round community hub for Newport.

🚨 Newport Skates SEASON CLOSED – THANK YOU FOR A GREAT WINTER ⛸️❄️

Due to the recent rain and warmer temperatures, Newport Skates Ice Rink is now closed for the season as of today, March 11. We will reopen for the 2026/27 season next November, and this May we will be launching pickleball courts at our same location.

While we originally planned to stay open through March 15, the changing weather conditions made it difficult to maintain safe ice quality, so we made the decision to wrap up the season a few days early.

We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who came out to skate this winter! From first-time skaters to families, friends, and community events that made the rink such a special place all season long. 💙

Thank you for being part of it. We can’t wait to see you back on the ice next winter! ❄️⛸️

Due to the warmer temperatures, Newport Skates Ice Rink may be closed today and potentially tomorrow.

We’re monitoring the weather closely and will confirm today’s status as soon as possible. If the warm conditions continue, tomorrow’s schedule may also be affected.

We wanted to give everyone a heads up, any updates or official announcements will be posted right here, so please check back before heading to the rink.

❄️ We’re heading into our FINAL WEEK! ⛸️

If skating has been “on the list” this winter, now’s the moment to make it happen. Come soak up the last full week of the season on the ice at Newport Skates Ice Rink!

Our closing date for the season is March 15, so there are only a few more chances to skate before we say goodbye to winter.

As temperatures begin to warm up (and with the occasional rain), hours of operation may vary day-to-day depending on weather conditions. Any schedule updates or announcements will always be posted right here, so be sure to check our page before heading over.

After the blizzard, Newport Skates Ice Rink is OPEN and ready to skate ⛸️✨

Thank you for your patience while we weathered the storm - now come skate it off with us! We are still open this season until March 15th!
