Newport 10k wanted to share some memories of Mike "Curley" Cunningham who passed away on Saturday. Curley as he was fondly known was a great supporter of the Newport 10k and our summer run series. Curley loved running and was always interested in how others got on in their races he was a real gentleman. (also remembering Michal Reijmer)

Hi all, we need your help in finding this little lad's owner. He joined one of our runners today when walking near Hillcrest Manor and followed them home. Mulcair Vets have said that he has been neutered but not chipped. He's a lovely little dog, about 2/3 years old and is getting on great with another dog and kid. If his owner doesn't come forward in the next day or two, we'll be looking for a nice home for him with a secure garden.

Today is a very exciting, proud and special day for Newport Town AFC as we are delighted to announce the launch of the club’s official website www.newporttownafc.com in partnership with Carlos Lancha of Lancha Multimedia, www.lanchamultimedia.com, who has very kindly sponsored the design and set-up of the website. A lot of time, effort and man hours has been put into the new website by Carlos and committee members and we hope that you like the design layout & content.

The club has been growing from strength to strength since its foundation in 1970 both on and off the playing field with almost 250 players currently representing the club at all levels and the new website is another hugely positive step forward for the soccer club. It will be the focal point for information on all club activity for players, managers, our supporters, visiting teams and guests wherever they may be. Our existing weekly newsletter, ‘The Derryleigh Diary’, our presence on Facebook & Twitter and our weekly club notes in the local paper will continue as normal and will all complement the website. Newporttownafc.com will also act as an archive for the club’s history for generations to come and it is our intention over time to record the club’s history back to its foundation in 1970 but this will be a work in progress.

We would ask you all to visit www.newporttownafc.com, take a look around the site and if you have any feedback or comments, please feel free to contact us on the club’s new e-mail address [email protected]. Please tell your friends & family about the website and help spread the word.

This is another exciting chapter in the club’s progression and we all look forward to the future.

Lots happening over the next few weeks, Meet and train group at the Longhouse, Birdhill Tuesdays @7.30pm, Parkrun at Killaloe Saturdays, that's 2 days training sorted. Commit to these training sessions and your ready to go for the Birdhill Turkey Run
and the Newport Wren Run. Remember consistency is the key:)

The Annual Newport 10k Run (now called the Newport Wren Run) has been delayed this year and will take place on St. Stephen's Day so plenty of time to get training. Why not join us for a meet and train group on Tuesday nights at 7.30 @ The Longhouse, Birdhill. All are welcome. We are training for the Birdhill Turkey Run as a lead into the Wren run.
