A cold, windy evening on Hominy only brought out seven anglers but the bass were chomping. Each angler turned in a full bag and nine of the bass were over 18 inches qualifying three new anglers for the “Big Bass Bash”. We also have new leaders (note the plural) for “Big Bass of the Year”! Three anglers turned in a 20.5” fish to tie for “Big Bass. Blake Collins, Michael Cunningham, and Leighton Mouse. Two anglers were still tied when we moved down to their second fish as they both had a 19” but ultimately the honor fell to Blake Collins with a third fish for 17”. Despite the three good fish Blake was edged out of the overall win by a quarter of an inch by Ryan Hendricks who had 18.25”, and two at 19.25 for a three fish total of 56.75”.
So the score to beat for “Big Bass of the year is now set at 20.5 inches, beating out Leighton Mouse’s 20” from Shell lake. If you have not entered yet we still have several lakes on the schedule quite capable of turning out a fish over 20.5”. Including our next stop at Okmulgee. You can enter at any time but only fish caught after you pay the entry fee will be eligible.
Our three new qualifiers for the Big Bass Bash” are Blake Collins, Michael Cunningham, and Dalton Honeycutt. This brings the field up to 14. Remember, all it takes is hooking into a bass over 18” to join us at Dripping Springs in October for a one day, one fish derby.
Also, congratulations to Zach Miller who won the random draw for a $25 AFTCO gift card.
