Big Bass Update.

So Blake Collins has taken the lead in the Big Bass of the Year race with his 22.5" he pulled out of Taft. We currently have 18 entrants in that race.

We have 19 anglers who have submitted a bass over 18 inches to qualify for the BIG BASS BASH @ Dripping Springs in October, a one day, one fish derby.

On the attached picture are the entries so far. Names in red are not (currently) in the Big Bass of the Year race but have qualified for the BB Bash.

We are not yet half way through the season so plenty of time to joing the fun and hook a Big 'un.

Congratulations to Blake Collins for win number four this season. We had nine anglers show up at Taft but Blake topped them all with a three fish limit totaling 51 inches but the kicker was his 22.5” Big Bass. That also takes the lead for Big Bass of the year.

We would like to welcome Tyler Buhler for coming out and joining us for the first time.

Next week we are scheduled to be at Blue Creek on Oologah. Hope you can join us.

We have a few anglers that have filled their 8 events so it is time for AOY Standings. Blake Collins has the early lead on the field with a solid start to the season. Expect the standings to shake up as more anglers upgrade and fill out 8 events.

Reminder that AOY is based on an anglers best 8 events for the season. So there is still plenty of time for you to come out and join us to compete for AOY.

Our next event is Tuesday night at Taft.

Another cool, wet, windy Tuesday night. Eight anglers bundled up and braved the elements in search of a limit of bass. Six found a limit but Kong Xiong brought in the biggest three including big bass at 17.5”.

Next Tuesday we head south to Taft looking for bigger fish and better weather.

Windy day on Greenleaf for our second Saturday event. It was tough getting a limit but solid fish were caught and submitted. Of the nine anglers only four brought in a limit but the average size of the day was 16.5” on all fish.

Josh Barlow found four “above average” to take the win with a 70 inch total. We had a tie for Big Bass at 18.75” with Wayne Brunson edging out Leighton Mouse by virtueof a tiebreaker.

We had six bass turned in of 18 inches or bigger qualifying four more people for the Big Bass Bash in October at Dripping Springs. (Josh Barlow, David Brunson, Wayne Brunson, and John Sowers)

Apologies to the winners for not getting your picture (way to go FRANK!!) but you got our money so that should be reward enough 😆😉.

Our next Saturday event is June 20th. This is the Tulsa -vs- OKC Route 44 Roadrunner. On Bellcow, Chandler, and Stroud. Details will be coming soon but make plans to attend. OKC has won the last two and are questioning Tulsa’s angling abilities 😉 so please make plans to attend.

The next Tuesday nighter will be on Skiatook at Blackdog ramp. We are keeping eyes on the forcast and will post if anything changes.

Finally had a nice enough evening that we could breakout the short pants and sunscreen. Fourteen folks showed up to see if they could pull out a couple of Okmulgee monsters. Unfortunately, the Big-uns stayed hidden. Half the field turned in a limit with the average size of the night being 13”.

Todd Lester found three above average fish to win the evening with a 44.75” total and first-timer Trey Smith only landed one fish but it was the biggest of the evening at 18”. Trey is now the 15th angler to qualify for the “Big Bass Bash” in October just down the road at Dripping Springs. Remember, if you turn in a fish 18 inches or over at anytime this season you can take part in this one fish derby.

Speaking of BIG BASS, the pot for the Biggest of the year is up to $340 and we currently have a three way tie between Blake Collins, Michael Cunningham, and Leighton Mouse at 20.5 inches. Pay to enter at any time this season but only fish submitted after you have paid will count.

Trey was not our only first timer to join us tonight. We would also like to welcome Jacob Dunn and Richard Cramberg. We hope you enjoyed fishing with us and will join us again back out on the water.

The next opportunity will be this Saturday at Greenleaf. This is our second time to have an event on the weekend. Entry fee for Saturdays is $40 and we will fish from 6am to noon. Four fish limit.

If Saturdays are not your jam then come out to Blackdog ramp on Skiatook for the next Tuesday night jackpot.

Tuesday we will be launching from the Red Oak ramp on Okmulgee lake (35.61109° N, 96.07370° W). As you are driving south on Dripping Springs Lake Road it is the third ramp.

A cold, windy evening on Hominy only brought out seven anglers but the bass were chomping. Each angler turned in a full bag and nine of the bass were over 18 inches qualifying three new anglers for the “Big Bass Bash”. We also have new leaders (note the plural) for “Big Bass of the Year”! Three anglers turned in a 20.5” fish to tie for “Big Bass. Blake Collins, Michael Cunningham, and Leighton Mouse. Two anglers were still tied when we moved down to their second fish as they both had a 19” but ultimately the honor fell to Blake Collins with a third fish for 17”. Despite the three good fish Blake was edged out of the overall win by a quarter of an inch by Ryan Hendricks who had 18.25”, and two at 19.25 for a three fish total of 56.75”.

So the score to beat for “Big Bass of the year is now set at 20.5 inches, beating out Leighton Mouse’s 20” from Shell lake. If you have not entered yet we still have several lakes on the schedule quite capable of turning out a fish over 20.5”. Including our next stop at Okmulgee. You can enter at any time but only fish caught after you pay the entry fee will be eligible.

Our three new qualifiers for the Big Bass Bash” are Blake Collins, Michael Cunningham, and Dalton Honeycutt. This brings the field up to 14. Remember, all it takes is hooking into a bass over 18” to join us at Dripping Springs in October for a one day, one fish derby.

Also, congratulations to Zach Miller who won the random draw for a $25 AFTCO gift card.
