Worked on a real unicorn today. 1 of 6 1967 Ford Galaxie XL R code 427 2x4 4 speed. The customer wanted rust removed from the framerails, suspension, and as much of the floor pan as possible, and removed light paint and undercoat from the floor pans and inner fenders. A safe way to remove paint from oblects that could be damaged by sand or abrasive media and without getting media all over the surroundings. There is a large fume extractor behind me pulling the fumes in. I used this engine as an example of what we can do with a restoration project if you wanted to strip an engine for repaint without tearing it down. Cleaning up rust on an engine block that had the machining work done a few years ago. The laser cleaning process leaves behind dust that is easily removed and leaves no risk of debri in the oil galleries.

This aluminum wheel had etching from a degreasing cleaner that we removed with the laser. The laser cleans the surface leaving a smoother surface than media blasting can achieve. It may not be faster than traditional media blasting, but if you are looking for an almost original as cast finish and polishing the wheel lip then this is the way.
