With a plethora of things to do on Halloween...this week we will SPoTLighT places to get tricks or treats, or just fun things to do, here in Newton County on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Happy Halloween!

Starting at 5:00 p.m. The Jasper Fire Department will be giving out hot chocolate and popcorn.

The Red Oak Station will be giving away goodies, but the surprise is part of the suspense in waiting to hear what it will be.

The Friends of the Library of Newton County Arkansas Inc. will be handing out candy, and the library is a great destination, where you can find all types of goodies to check out. It just so happens they are now open Saturday evenings from 4-8 p.m. So get candy and check out books or movies.

The Fox & Fern Food Truck will be closed most of Saturday, but they will be open to give away hot dogs, chili, drinks and candy!! That's right, they are giving it away to thank the community for supporting them.

The Sheriff's Department is having a Trunk or Treat at their office at the end of Spring Street, starting at 6 p.m.

Opie's Hangout is having a Trunk or Treat as well, starting at 6 p.m. If you happen to have a trunk and want to hand out candy, they will provide the candy.....an unusually kind offer, if you ask me. There could be a live band as well.

Sweet T's has photo ops to get your kiddos pictures taken! Especially while you are there for the trunk or treat.

First Baptist Church Jasper is having a trunk or treat, with the theme "Around the World"

Newton County Baptist Church in Piercetown is also having a Trunk or Treat. Details will be updated as we get them.

Countryside Health and Rehab of Newton County will be handing out candy from 6-8 p.m.

Parthenon VFD is having a chili supper with trick or treat candy.

Have an idea for a trunk design? Want to pass out candy? Leslie is providing the candy if you provide the trunk...for the trunk or treat at Opie's Hangout.
They may also have a band.

Quite a bit.

The new Uniform Residential Appraisal Report (URAR) is designed to collect property information in a more structured and standardized way.

Depending on the property, the report can capture more detailed information regarding:

🔨 Condition and quality
📐 Finished living areas
⬆️ Above-grade vs. below-grade areas
🌱 Energy-efficient and green features
⛈️ Certain disaster-mitigation features
📸 Property photographs
🏘️ Comparable sales and market information

One change I think consumers will notice is the level of detail.

Instead of thinking of an appraisal as simply:

“Did the house appraise for the contract price?”

I want my clients to understand that there's an entire analysis behind that final opinion of value.

And beginning November 2, the way much of that information is collected and reported is changing.

Knowledge matters—especially when we're talking about one of the largest financial transactions most people will ever make.
