The UNF School of Music is proud to highlight the contributions of our faculty and students at the Jacksonville Symposium on the History of Music Education, held at the University of North Florida.
Dr. Julie Song presented "Resistance and Resilience in the Evolution of Modern Korean Songs," exploring how music serves as a powerful reflection of cultural identity, perseverance, and historical change.
UNF was represented by several members of our music community throughout the symposium. Music Education Area Coordinator Dr. Timothy Groulx presented "History of Music Teacher Education: A Case Study," while UNF student Megan Robichaud shared her research, "FMEA: Florida Music Education Before the Organization."
The symposium also featured a performance by Music Technology Area Coordinator Jack Miller and the Jack Miller Trio, presenting Jazz Music of Jacksonville, Florida in the UNF School of Music Recital Hall.
Bringing together scholars from universities across the United States and abroad, the symposium showcased important research in music education history while highlighting the scholarship and artistry of the UNF School of Music community.
