I’m genuinely sick of the way people treat our business sometimes. 🙄
It seems like no matter WHAT we do, someone has SOMETHING negative to say about it.
We’re trying to put together a Teen Night for ages 13–18 because there are so few things in this area specifically catered to teenagers. And apparently THAT’S a problem because 18 is legally an “adult.”
There are plenty of 18-year-olds who are still seniors in high school, with 16- and 17-year-old friends. Why should they be excluded from an event meant for their age group?
When we hosted our Squishy Skate, someone was upset because the squishies weren’t NAME BRAND NEE DOH. I’m sorry, WHAT?! 😂
When we hosted our Taylor Swift Skate, I was quite literally cussed out because I allowed adults to attend.
We make a hiring post? “OMG you guys just can’t keep employees…” (like hiring isn’t a part of business?)
IT. IS. ROLLER. SKATING. 🛼
I’ve sacrificed over EIGHT YEARS of weekends, holidays, family time, and more to keep this business going. Yet somehow I still get told I don’t have a “real job.”
But when I hire a young, capable manager and give her the opportunity to grow and lead, suddenly it’s “she lets teenagers run the place.”
Which is it?! 😂
95% of our customers are wonderful. You come in, skate, celebrate birthdays, spend time with your families, make memories, and leave happy. You’re the reason we’ve kept doing this for eight years, and we appreciate you more than you know.
But that other 5%…
We aren’t going to get every event perfect for every person. Not every theme is going to appeal to everyone. Not every policy is going to be someone’s favorite.
But we’re TRYING. We’re trying new things, giving kids and teenagers somewhere to go, creating affordable family entertainment, and keeping a locally owned business alive in a world where that isn’t always easy.
And some days, it feels like people would rather find something wrong with what we’re doing than appreciate that we’re doing anything at all.
I know I shouldn’t let it get to me, but I’m human. And sometimes it’s exhausting.
Genuine question:
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT ROLLER SKATING?! 😭🛼
Has anyone else noticed how comfortable people have gotten with complaining about absolutely anything and EVERYTHING?
Anyways… we will be at National Night Out tomorrow (Saturday). We hope to see you there!
